I was going to suggest that until I saw the size of the crate... A good way to smuggle gold bullion embedded in the casting!

I can get someone to pick it up for you. Where in England are you?

It would definitely make a nice yard anchor. That's what we call big heavy stuff stuck in front of the house for decoration, especially if someone figures out how to attach a mailbox to it.

Westchester County is just above Manhattan, if memory serves me Gonzo, though I suspect there could be many more.

I see, sometimes member's locations confuse me.

I'd like to undertand how did you infer the german origin of the prop. The text on the box is in italian, "masse" means masses in italian, and the brutto (gross) and netto (net) mass values are given. The first pic bears the name of the shipyard Cantiere Navale Tecnomarine di Picchiotti, from Viareggio (Italy) - now Perini Navi.

If you would want a smaller brand new boat you could start a design contest here in bd. The winner builds the winner boat for you and are free to get the prop and axel. As a transport company would have no problem shipping these parts wherelse you want them to.
And I betsomeone of the proffesionals inside BD could use this one.
    They are not cheap.

Yes you are right with your thoughts, but I assumed that Masse (which is german as well for mass) referred to the given metric dimensions. Might have been different some time ago, but as far as I know it is quite common even in Europe to give prop sizes in inch amd only the shaft diameter in mm if that piece is metric. No cm here.
Would it be so extremely surprising beyond believe that an italian yard could have ordered a custom-made prop from Germany?

You realize that the day after you get rid of it, something will ding the left side of your truck, Don't you?

Apparently you got the shaft also? (The one for the propeller)

I can imagine it would be quite a conversation piece if you made a ceiling fan out of it.

It also says "NEUBAU" on the box, that's "newbuild" in German ...

Sorry for the lack of a reply, I wasn't getting the notifications anymore. Id hate to scrap this thing. I have had some local interest, but everyone assumes that it is stolen. It isn't!

Westchester is indeed 30 min North of Manhattan.

PhilSweet: if I get rid of it and that side of my truck gets dinged, it will at least match the opposite, unprotected side!

Did you call Perini Navi? Any info from them?
