GZ Curves/Stability info - Honours Project

Hi, I am a 3rd year student at Plymouth University studying Navigation and Maritime Science.

I am starting research into my honours project in which I am looking at yacht owners attitudes towards stability. I am focusing on three particular vessels, a Laser dinghy, Dufour 445 and a Nordhavn 55. I will be conducting an inclining experiment on the Dufour 445.

I would really appreciate if anyone has any information about the stability of these vessels or owns one and knows what information was given to them when they bought the boat.

Your help would be much appreciated!
 
What sort of inclining experiment are you performing?
I am also a student, trying to test my own RC boat, and want to know what sort of experiments I can do to validate my calculations.
 
Remember that stability of a Laser is dominated by where the weight of the person on the boat, where they position themselves, and how far out they hike.

So a GZ curve for a Laser by itself may not be particularly relevant for someone sailing a Laser.
 
I will be doing a standard inclining experiment to create a GZ curve, I have not quite looked into the technicalities of conducting the experiment but will be doing it within the next month and know it is possible as one was done on the same vessel last year.

I was more looking at the owners attitudes towards the stability of there vessel, whether it comes with information in the owners handbook about conditions to go out in or maximum loads the boat can take.

The inclining test only lets you know the position of the center of gravity of the boat AT THE TIME OF THE EXPERIENCE. It does not allow you to create any GZ curve. Beware of concepts ¡¡¡
You can do an inclining test in any floating craft, but, what was done in a similar boat does not have to assert, without adapting, to the current boat.
