    HI,
I'm developing my thesis about the structural optimization of a sailboat, now I have some dubts about the forces distribution on the mast while the boat is running with the wind coming from stern.
The boat sail plan is mainsail/spinnaker; while the mainsail force could be reduced to a distribuited pressure on the mast , I don't know how reduce the spinnaker forces.
It's correct to put the 80% on the top of the mast and the 20% where the outrigger boom is joint to the mast?

    please help me!!

    thanks to all.
