Anyone have a pro or con on the idea of having flanking rudders?

Flanking rudders.... hmm.... can you elaborate further on just what you're planning?

I'm buying a 50' river cruiser houseboat. It is powered by a Detroit Diesel 6V71. The rudders are on both sides of the prop. The builder calls them "flanking"
The prop tip ends about middle of the rudder width. 1/2 of rudders are ahead of prop nut, 1/2 are past tip. They truly "flank" the prop.
I've never seen a setup like this. Just wondering about turning, wash, thrust theft, & advantage if any, besides they look like bodyguards to a rapper.
