To be honest it was all over in just over 24 hours when Randy Smythe and partner blitzed the course in a foiling Nacra 20, evidently with one broken rudder and using an oar in lieu, some sailor. Not sure of who his partner was but one would have to commend him as well.

The rest of the fleet have been very slow to arrive, so far behind they have almost been in a different race, with some strong winds on course and sadly a loss of life by one sailor.

Boatbuilding for the challenge was the procedure last year: Reisebericht Everglades Challenge 2019 https://contenderclass.de/index.php/regatta/regattaberichte/1292-reisebericht-everglades-challenge-2019

Two of the ultralight designs of Dr. Joachim Harpprecht. For his voyages he developed a special system of prefabricated parts, which he carried with himself in the reg. plane: a three parts mast and beams, sail, boards, rudder and templates for the ply (three sheets) and epoxy he had to buy after arrival. Within a week or more he built his light boat and started his voyage. The beams are parts of surf masts and fastened with lashings to the hulls. He has been in Florida with a light skiff before and between Philippine islands with a trimaran. A total new way of sea voyaging. After the tour he sold his boat or gave it away for nothing as with the last EC where a 14 year old boy got his racer with the strong advice to start sailing it only in soft winds.
