33 views and no one can tell me when this out-drive was built?

Okay, does anyone know where I can find this information for myself?

And does a "frankenstien'd" lower unit create a cause for concern?

The plastic hydro fin isn't a big deal. It means they wanted to get on plane faster or run slower without dropping off plane. That drive is old and the omc stringers are not great. A mercruiser is much easier to service now. That will be a project when something goes wrong with it :(

Thanks for the response. I am not concerned with the whale fin, more concerned about the different lower unit, frankenstien'd to the sea drive. As far as having an outdated, hard to fine parts, repair nightmare, yea, I know all that.
But these units, when properly maintained, can last a good long time. This one works just fine and it is 34 years old.
