Diesel Engine Mounts In Wooden Powerboat

    HELP - ADVICE WANTED
In a wooden powerboat is it better to have solid engine mounts or one with rubber?

Sounds like one of the old half cabin jobs, no, use flexi mounts in them, Polyflex make good small mounts for 250hp type engines.

    Use their coupling too.

Flexible mounts need a flexible shaft to dance a round with the engine.

In other words the stuffing box needs to be rubber mounted. Its surprising how many boats don't accommodate for this and experience serious shaft wear.
