    I have a 97, Evenrude 90HP V4, Max Operating range is supposed to be 4500 - 5500 rpm.
Am currently turning 4800 rpm max with normal lite load, 1/2 tank of fuel and Driver only. Should I reduce pitch 2" to increase max rpm?
I'm told higher rpm is desireable to prolong engine life or is 4800 High enough?
    Thanks, Jango

You are in Evinrude's desired range. Most likely your speed is more now than it would be with a lower pitch. I would not change it unless you operate with a heavier load a lot.

    I would lower the pitch.
You say light load and you are only 300rpm over the low end.
One tank of bad gas a full esky a head wind and ka boom!
