Hmmm, eye fillet with a red wine and prune jus, thats a decent dinner!

    Jus:

    1 small onion, finely chopped
    1 clove garlic, finely chopped
    1 tsp thyme leaves
    2 bay leaves
    1 tsp ground cinnamon
    3 cloves
    2 tblsp raw sugar
    300ml red wine
    12 prunes, pitted and halved
    1 knob butter

Brown off onion and garlic, then add other dry ingredients, stir to combine.

Add red wine and prunes and simmer till reduced and thickened.

Before serving, add butter and stir through on heat to form a glossy finish to the jus.

    Looks yummmy James.

However, since moving to Japan, i tend to eat my steaks virginal now, untouched by sauces etc. Since it cost, on average, for a half decent steak around US$250~300/kg...so i like to taste all the dosh!!

Simply rub with salt, pepper and a little olive oil...let it marinate for 30mins to 1 hour..then gently fry on its own no oil. Leave to cool for a few mins and eat.

I was making a pun, referencing the movie, "Quiggly Down Under".

About a sharp shooting american rifleman/cowboy (Tom Selleck) accepted a hunting job with an australian rancher. When he arrived, he learned he was to hunt aborigines, so backed out. This pissed off the rancher, so he tried to do Quiggly in. The australian fancied himself a quick draw artist. Final scene, showdown, Quiggly outdraws and kills rancher. Dying, the rancher complains Quiggly earlier said, he didn't like pistols! Quiggly drawls, "I don't. But I never said I didn't know how to use one!" Good movie, the american wins again. LOL :D

One of my favorite deepsea tugs I ran for 5 years, was named "Hollywood". I liked that name, cause in Hollywood movies, americans always win! :D

If you don't have prunes, James, could you cook down a Dr. Pepper soft drink? That's prune flavored soda.
I like polish sausage cooked in Vernors ginger-ale untill it's a thick sauce. :)

    Fork it over, pal. :)

I still enjoy my grub, but certainly my tastebuds are dimmed. Sometimes that's an advantage.
Sometimes life is a sh-t sandwich. The more bread you got, the less the filling you taste! :D

Yobi -do you prefer Mac Donalds or Burgur king. I had a sausage Mc muffin with egg last week and before that would be january.

They do a week day special for 1 dollar and as much coffee as you want.

If you have no taste buds this will do for you, but you would have to sit outside because they don't allows smokers stinking the place out. Strangely --outside is very popular with Muslim smokers.

Ive often wondered --if you have no taste buds then you could eat the polystyrene box and not know any difference.

I don't eat at fast food hamburger joints. I go to buffets. I like my vegetables. Mom always had a huge garden. We kids were forced labor! LOL
Anyway, I was raised on a single serving of meat, and half a dozen asst. veggies every meal, all you wanted. Only place I get that kinda variety other than my home, is a buffet! :)

Raise a child in the way he should go, and when he's grown he'll not depart from it. :)

Oh, in Mexico, smoking in restauraunts is technically illegal, but simply not enforced. Nearly everybody lights up after eating.
Mexico is more free than the USA now days, in at least some ways. :)

Oh, the $100 bucks you owe me. Give it to whom ever you deem needy. :) The whole 100, or a dollar at a time, YOU choose. :)
I trust in your honor. No need to account the gifts. :)

Just about anything can substitute for the prunes. Cherry, red current, cranberry, pear, grape.

I've got a recipe for you.
Pork tenderloin, sliced about 1/2 inch thick rounds, gently sauteed, untill just not pink.

In a sauce pan, condense a can of cherries in liquor and thicken with bit of corn starch dissolved in cold water. A pinch of ground clove in the cherries.

plate 4 or 5 fanned tenderloin rounds, covered with cherry sauce, and sprinkled with slivered almonds.

Serve with a rice pilaf, and a vegetable medley.

    Plates very attractive ;)

Interesting up bringing, similar to mine, although I am confused as to why this is relevant.

Smoking in restaurants is freedom is it?---- 1 step forward 2 steps back.

I suppose having a urinal in the corner of the room would be convenient too.

Do you have saw dust on the floor?-- to absorb the spit.

I know you love Freedom. Yours!
But you want MORE freedom than can be reasonably had.
You want freedom from being offended.
    Nobody has that right.
Smoking offends you, and you want it banned.
Liberals who think exercising freedom is controling others, aren't promoters of freedom. They're promoting democratic tyranny.
The majority imposing their will on the minority.
That's why the US is a republic, not a democracy. We have many devices designed into our system to PREVENT popular tyranny. Our constitution being the primary protection.
In Mexico, the government is corrupt, but doesn't have the resources to micro-manage the population. The resources are being stuffed into politicians pockets.
The result is, people are free to do as they please, with certain limitations. Go around murdering folks, you'll get the governments attention.
You percieve banning smoking in the worlds public places as a step forward.
I see it as a step toward totalitarian enslavement.
Diminish one mans freedom, it's diminished for all.
What was so costly won by the blood of valorous many, is too easily discarded by the shortsighted vain.
I hate collectivists! The freedom of the individual must be stripped away for the greater good of society is anti-freedom. I fight against collectivism. I WILL live FREE!

It was obnoxious having people blowing smoke at me while trying to enjoy a meal.
I don't go to a restaurant to choke on other people's second hand smoke.

Then, by all means go to restaurants where people can't smoke.
That means, only visit countries that enforce no smoking in restaurants.

That way, you exercise SELF control, instead of trying to control others! :)
