yes, first off pick a man/woman who is multilingual
being multilingual a person would have great experience of the world, that would go a long way
Then have the party elect their man and let him her stand without all this campaign trail stuff
have debates only on national tv, and limit the funding to almost zero, and pay the tv to do thsi from the national purse, keep these debates going for as long as 5 months before an election
In other words elect the candidate for the party on his.her, merits not on wealth or clout
this man may come from building a successful business or some such thing
But hey BO, will now soon reveal his true agenda, one he could not do on the trail, and he will scale back the military and start building schools etc
you need change your election system, it is now just a pantomime

the presidency is run by business men - the president is just a puppet on a string - and the generals and military dictates. Face it, the military is the biggest business in the USA. There will always another war to be fought to feed that hungry monster, more so if there is some oil or other much needed commodity involved....

And where exactly did I use or even imply the term "backward, untravelled rednecks" bit of self consciousness there perhaps. Don't misquote me for a start.
From the years I have been on various forums, internet chat groups etc, etc, talking with people from America and from the yrs when I worked in government organisations and met many very nice Americans the overwhelming impression I got from them was how little they knew of the world outside of the good ol US of A. From that I made my remark.

About our former prime minister well of course you'd like him, over here the general consensus was he was Bush's puppy dog, so naturally you'd love someone just like you who fitted in with your ideals.

    Roger that my American brother.

For all you congratulatory types and self-professed savants of American politics, what you are applauding is our fundamental shift to isolationism, protectionism and labor.

What this election brings to the world is a very large void, coupled with neither political-will nor financial resources to fill it for any reason other than a direct threat to our own borders. Literally.

Parenthetically, for all of you that think we Americans are not in touch with world affairs, most of us are here because we and our forefathers are all too connected with your ways. We read history more than tabloids. And we study what we want to become, not what we don’t. There is little need for Americans to study the current affairs of this world. And what is to come of this world now, with all these congratulations, is something we can readily discern from any history book.

Well voters in Minneapolis, Minnesota overwhelmingly approved an increase in the sales tax (3/8ths of 1%) that will double funding per student per annum. Hopefully some of that will go to geography texts.

I don't know if the rest of the world has a passion for it or what, but I've noticed my fellow citizens are just incredibly bad at geography, both natural and political. I understand getting confused about all those little countries in and around the bight of Benin; and the former Yugoslavia/Balkan States; but when almost a third of our citizens can't name their own states on a map, that's sad as hell.

It's too bad more US citizens don't travel internationally. On second thought maybe it's just as well, eh?

    Kach and Harle:
Thanks...I thought the whole world had gone socialist on me....was about to start hoarding canned food and ammo! The foreign guys don't bother me because all they know is what CNN and the major networks tell them - and that news is so liberally biased that the world only receives the statist side of the story.

Romney would have made hamburger out of Obama in the debates - don't know how we nominated a liberal Republican with no business experience! Our choices, indeed, gave us no choice.

I thought you may enjoy a chart from my other vocation. Can there be any doubt people and their standard of living suffer when government grows? In America, there were three big, statist growth spurts in our history: The New Deal (FDR the socialist), The Great Society (Johnson) and the recent end of the Reagan Revolution. Can you find them on this chart of the inflation adjusted Dow:

    Epo,
Good for your schools. Maybe one day your school funding will approach the highest expense per student area of the country; Washington DC. Of course, their students are also the worst educated. That's what throwing money at a union does without competition. What a waste.

Government doesn't help the common man, a fair and competitive marketplace is what lifts us all. Voting for things that make you feel better while the history/factual data shows your doing harm is the liberal way. Perhaps, you could watch this live, puppy-cam instead of voting to appease your emotions. You'll love it:

actually Juice, I may not have seen as much of USA as you but I have seen a lot of it, an awful lot
i saw a sign near Housten, two years back, it said"every Texan, deserves 450 horses, with a pic of a pickup truck That says it all, really, you make up 3% of worlds population(somewhere there) and you use half worlds oil, you are incredibly greedy and grabbing, you have done more damage to the world than you will ever ever know, and during the Bush years you became hated Now I travel a lot, and I know that a certain % of you lot are very good people , but by the actions of the peasents there and the admin, you have made in unsafe for all westerners to travel in much of the world, frinstance I can not go to Afghanistan, Pakistan in North, and in Northern Africa I must where shirt which says NZ on it

I see that Venice (Italy) and Rovinj (an extremely cute small town in Croatia) have not been marked on that map, Lazey. That's a real pitty. ;)

    Clueless

    Lazey,
Yeah, we asked al Queda to blow-up the world trade buildings, an embassy or two, a battleship...all before we did any retalliation. Nice logic genius. Don't worry, they'll come for you too. You have constantly illustrated a complete misunderstanding of world politics, American sentiment and the aggressiveness of human nature. Thank goodness you weren't running the show during WWII or your flag would be the Rising Sun.

Greedy and grabbing? We could take any country anytime we want. Instead, not only have we never taken one inch of foreign land (except to bury our dead that defended that foreign land), we spend our blood and treasure defending yours! What a stupid thing you've said.

The reality is we did nothing militarily until the fundamentalists came for us. Then, we did what Europe (and all of us) should have done 20 years ago to prevent this mess...take them down. Isn't it obvious they would keep killing innocents worldwide until somebody did something? Are you totally blind??

If you think you were safer in Afghanistan with the Taliban than now, you are truly vapid. If you think the Taliban will embrace you, go to N. Pakistan and say hello, they're all there. Those people hate you and want you dead because of who YOU are - don't you understand that?! They don't hate Americans, Aussies, Japanese, Chinese -they hate all of us because we're infadels. They wish you were dead as well as I - what the hell is wrong with you ?

I'm not going to post politics anymore on this site...it's just too hopeless. The world has gone off to thinking sad little utopian ideals while America protects their borders. I hope Obama guts our military like Carter and the American public becomes totally isolationist. The world fell easily into war the last time we didn't interract before WWI. China won't take long to absorb their way right down to Australia...but whatever, I'm sure they'll treat you well if you're nice and make rice.
It's a tough world "Lazy" - so, grow some balls. LMAO

Actually Juice we base most of our assumptions on programmes like Jerry Springer

That doesn't really play in America anymore - but nice to know how it's loved overseas. That's the good thing about free markets, if nobody would watch the show wouldn't exist. Springer makes over $20MM each year from that show all in foreign markets.

tee hee you are a sad man Juice
you rattled Bin Laden by putting Macdonalds all over the world, you attcked(with your blessing) a country that had harmed you not, and you(with your blessings killed over 1 mill innocents
BURY your dead? what the hell were they doing in Vietnam and 28 other war zones that YOU STARTED

Balls, would you have the balls to start over in a foreign land??
go to a yahoo chat room, it is where you belong OR post about boats\Or seeing as you do not listen to foreigners, listen or at least read Billy Doc\OR pick up the phone and talk BEFORE you judge people

Well, you certainly have your wish because you're way too clueless for me to waste my time. Vietnam? You don't know anything do you!

I'm sure Mas will appreciate you kicking people off the site. I'll leave your sorry *** here to talk **** about America only because it will make you feel better about your sad, sorry little life...a last vestige for the bitter rantings of those who fail.

Do not listen? The problem here is that I DID listen to you long enough to realize you are a completely hopeless idiot. Wherever you migrate, I'm sure they'll reject you just the same.
