No it doesnt sit that low. The back sits a little low but its not a problem. I have a 40 gallon fuel tank under the center console. I think the boat is rather dry. I take it 10 miles offshore all the time in 2 and 3 foot swells and it rides great. i dont have a porpsing problem. The dry weight on the boat is like 1800 and with my engine its like 2100 or2200 pounds. As far as fuel mialage it is ok. I get an average range on it. I bought my boat on craigslist a couple of years ago and when I bought it I didnt know what I had. I realy like the boat cause everything is simple on it. I am re wiring the boat as well as sanding patching and painting it now. I hope to have it painted in a couple of weeks.

I didnt raise the transom. I put on 5 inch risers for the engine cause I have a long shaft motor on it. It has a 1995 johnson 130hp on it now. I didnt do any fiberglass work or stringers. I believe that was all done by the previous owner. The boat is in good structual shape. It is built like a tank. I think the deck is fairly new also.

Heater17 great looking boat. Where did you get that console? Did you put the full transom on it or was it factory that way? I have yet to see two cary's on this forum that structuraly where the same as mine was factory. I have had lots of water time in mine before the resto. Im putting it in the water today for the first time in 3yrs due to resto work being done. Ill take lots of pictures and let you know how it runs. Keep the pics coming guys.

71 -19ft Cary

I have 71 19ft Cary that I have owned for the last 11 years.
I striped her down to the bare hull and rebuilt with all new composit stringers and transom. New 60gal fuel and 20gal of fresh water all under deck.New live well and new electical ,GPS and a Birdsail T Top
When I put 150 HP 4-stroke the added weight changed the way the boat ran,so I added 14 in wellsl at the stern with trim tabs now she runs great.

4 engines

I recall seeing the 4 engine models. My dad sold cary to some investors from France, then they sold it to some guys from Michigan, I think they were the ones that built the quad setups, and the 70'. By the way, the more the engines, the more there is to go wrong and more to maintain. Some real estate guy named Victor Posner bought it from the guys from Michigan, and moved it to N. Miami. My dad built high performance fishing boats for Aristotle Onassis and Ted Arison (Carnival Cruise Lines).

Those boat were being built in the 80’s in Grand Haven Mi the first Cay 70 actually had 3 V 12 engines and the Devos family of Amway owned the very first one. Does anyone know what happened to this boat?? Would have been built in about 86. Most all 50 footer during this time were 4 454 V8 they were built by the owner of Grand Isle Marina

Digging up an old thread as this is the only place I found info. Purchased this 1967, 19, hull #3. Planning to restore it, add a keel pad, extend the inner strakes to the transom, and possibly enclose the transom, along with putting a updated style console.
