I once did some work for a widow whose husband had been a carpenter. There was a 2 x 4 board down one wall of her garage, with clamps hanging on it: little 'C' clamps, big 'C' clamps; pipe clamps, bar clamps, miter clamps....

I counted 40 clamps, and gave her $40.00 for them. I didn't buy another clamp for years.

    I agree fully.

Wardd, why a telephone and why a computer on a 23' houseboat.
You mostly need a good sofa, an nice stove, a homey interior, and the shore people as far as you can have them.
On your very comfortable sofa, after a good cooked meal, you want to enjoy your evening peacefully, reading under the kerosene light with the typical little whistle of the burner.
The windows slightly open bring you the savor of the ocean, and the sound of the water against the hull. then little by little you fell asleep helped by the rhythm of the light roll of the boat.
Not with the telephone rigging, and your bill collector knowing where you are :p
This houseboat is about romance, or as will say Richard: Live :)

    Yepp,

    thanks Lubs.
In fact, even the "perfect Passagemaker" has some old fashioned kerosene lamps as spare illumination (and heating) and can be operated without any electricity running! And I do not install a TV on such boat. No way.

    Live

    don´t consume.......

Very well put, Daniel. You're a bit of a poet, you know....;)

When I retire in five years, and I'm not at work 12 hours a day or night in front of computers, and not going from there to a motor home to eat, spend an hour on my laptop, sleep, and start all over again, I think I'll probably wind up mostly unplugging myself from the internet. I'll be busy actually doing things, instead of talking about them. But right now, it's my lifeline to sanity when I'm away from home - which seems to be most of the time, lately.

Well Angel, I find this one which I bought. Still in production, kerosene activated and conform to the Coast Guard.
