How thick is the planking, and did they bend dry?

Man nothing beats working with ur family on a boat ! Give your son a pat on the back and tell him its from Egypt :D !

Looking great ! best of luck and keep those great photos rolling !

I do have a question though, do you have to treat the wood for termites and such insects ?

Looks like you'll be fitting out over winter. Your son looks like a good lad. Springing planks reminded me of this cartoon.

    Keep up the good work.

The plank almost bend dry, but I get a little help by letting them soaked in a tank full of kerosene and pine tar. Then they bend nicely.
each plank is 3/4" thick by 5 1/2" wide by 16' long. It will be nice to find 24' long but don't exist :)
As for the little insect, they hate kerosene and pine tar. But they are not there when I buy the wood, the chance they come after the fact is nil. Now for the torredo, if the boat let say goes in Florida the hull will be painted with two coat of coal tar epoxy then the antifouling. And that is a good protection against any little bugger. The bottom of the keel is already protected with a steel bar, the whole nicely bedded with coal tar epoxy.
The addition of epoxy on the coal tar make it dry and cure in seven to ten day inset of a month, or two, and I can have an even thicker coat.
I love the cartoon, so close to what happened yesterday. Twice, fortunatly nobody fly. But it give me an idea :D

I've always thought no real yacht would be complete without the modern ( who is this person and why are they on my boat ) ejection seat

sorta like a catapult in disguise with some form of foot lever by the pilots station

Boston, I hope you still in the ball for your project after the horrific set-back you had.
Perhaps you talk about you new endeavour on an other thread and I missed it, but let us know how your search is going and in which direction.

nah I'm kinda in limbo at the moment
I found prints for something that really really really looks like the boat I bought but I'm not so sure about building when I could buy

thing is I'm kinda just taking a break at the moment and slowly pursuing my case against the guy that sold my boat off

I refused the return of my check and the signed contract although I did cancel the check

balls in his court and the attorney general should be receiving my complaint soon

we will just have to wait and see if I ever see the HP at this point but I think my chances are slim

I'm a small fish in a big pond brother
    but thanks for asking

    B

    ps
I'll leave this up for a day or two then delete it so as not to distract from your thread

Thank you HalfDead121. Stay tune :)
Today it was cold but sunny, time to work on the planking after the bad storm we had.
The crew is working hard, while Theresa is preparing some sumptous dessert :)

One simply cannot own too many clamps.:)
    To be my epitaph.

It's true, the clamps are the backbone of boatbuilding. If I had one more it will be perfect! Always one more :)

    wardd this is the specs:

    Length on deck: 23'8"
    Length on waterline: 18'9"
    Beam: 8'6"
    Draft: 1'3"
    Displacement: 3,800 lbs.
Engine: outboard 9.9 hp to 15 hp

It is a simple little boat, all light and cooking is from kerosene, as for the heating same.
    Not genset, nothing.
