Blue Water Sloop/Cutter Hybrid (a Slutter)

The "bit more speed" under IDEAL conditions will probably be under 30 seconds per mile ,only observed in side by side racing of almost identical boats.

All the cruisers I have been on set the self steering or autopilot , and never bothered with the 3 seconds per hour of boat speed.

In fact most did not trim , trim trim every 10 seconds as the racers must , they just enjoyed the day.

BESTITIS is a disease , not a usefull concept to cruisers , that don't have the money or space for a 30 bag set of sails.

The cutter rig has a bowspirt, not a jib-boom.
