Just purches the last Bayfield 25 to be built in On. factory but problem is... No rigging. No mast (have boom), no sails, etc.

    Want to know:
    a) where to find specs/ plans for rigging
    b) Is it possibl;e to substitute a mast of same height? What do I need to look out for. (I have access to some used alum. spars)
c)What strength/type of wire for shrouds, stays, etc. assuming sail area is max 240ft2?

    Thanks, Andre

    Dear Andre:

If you can't find the specs for your boat or get anyone out there to help you, there is a quick and dirty way to find out what you need to know. Go to your local boat yards and find boats similer to yours (Weight , Length, and Beam) and see what size mast and rigging they use. Try to find at least three boats to sample from. This will get you in the ballpark. Then go to Amazon.com and see if they have a book called RIGGER'S APPRENTICE. This book will tell you pretty much what's involved in settting up a sailboat rig.

Though it is not a project to be taken lightly, with enough research and determination, it is definitly doable.
