The cities here would choke. Rural people in communities that work as communities would be ok, far better off.

A tunguska asteroid impact is a fear now that we know they're zooming by all the time.

Always something to worry about ;)

you are pretty much agreeing with what i said so i guess i should have said city or rural as you have. masalai might be australian but that doesn't mean he speaks for everyone or that what he says is correct.

Shhhhh! That's enough par! Let them get their generators in order, boats and doomsday shelters stocked, etc.

Asteroids never strike the same place twice. :) Tunguska and the Yucatan are probably safe from a direct impact. Baffin Bay as well.

If we take a look at

the moon surface it 's look few asteroides fell at the same place !:D
For the "brain tools" it is always a (big) difference betwen what we tinking we will do and what we are able to do in the real world ! (for some peoples it could be better than they can imagine are abble to do and for another it is exactly the contrary ).
And all depend of witch type of 'big trouble' you are thinking:
    - for the rise of the sea by 50 m let go we have time
-for an asteroide...depend where he fall and how big it is, if it is A big one : game is over (or if it is a small one just spot on ...your house, boat ,shelter, camping car : game over also )
    - nuclear war ? who want doing that ?And for make an "post nuclear winter" it's means the two (3 sorry, I forgott China !) make use a big part of their stocks. And in this cases you could be everywhere the result will be same
(exept in big shelter deep under the ground level with an hudge amount of stock, and some nice partners:p)Game over
    - big 'collapse ' of society it could happen, also civil war ( for many reasons money, religion, one year of bad harvest (i am not sure of this worb)...) in this case may be as said one of the American tycoon
    "just paranoïaques will survive "
And if, like wrotte before (I thinking by Par) if 90% of the population died in the first weeks, could you imagine the polution , billions of bodies ?
In 1973 I was in a town surrounded by "unamicals " peoples it means each day peoples killed and tortured during the night attack was recovered, it was in hot country, I lost the smell or for be more precise I lost the "color" of what I smell, I still smell but I are not abble anymore to said the 'color' : good ? bad? light, heavy odor No More,I thinking a way for my brean to protecte me .But I still be able to see...
But imagine one big city whit 90 % of people died...
Now we are playing to make the worste 'Hollywood film'.
But alway thinkins humans are worste than you can imagine and in this case you will not be surprised.
As I wrotte before ,we saw people fitting for dog food after just the 1999 storm in France, another stoll the generator of her neigbour.
Could you imagine what could happen in case of big trouble :?:
20000 years ago our ancestors was abble to survive but they was few and and the earth was full of ressources since this time we destroy and polluted a maximum and if the rest is under scories or radioactif....game over again.
We all asking : desaster but for our Gaïa it could be a "renaissance" , no more polluant microbes on his skin ?
In USA you already got big riot as us in France and frequently they start for
no reasons or just pretexes .With less autorities and structure it could be quickly became worst than the jungle.
Someone wrotte before : comunoty ,yes imagine 40/50 peoples trying their best for recover...but what they can do if they facing 100 'unamicals' one ?
I don't trust anymore on the human, we still are animals (the worst by far against is 'similars') if something like you said happen , we just hoppe have enought time to go far far away from another human animal ...like I could became ! ! (may be?)

I recommend the book "Lucifer's Hammer" about a post asteroid strike scenario.

    Natural disasters are local events.
All one needs is good fortune to not be amoung the dead, strength to aid the wounded and those weaker then oneself, and abundant resourcefulness to use what one finds on hand in the tasks of aiding others/keeping safe till help arrives.

It seems a popular pastime but I don't sit around wondering what AR platform is best for urban combat, or how to be the last alive after the 'collapse'.

Still in denial as to the prospect of a collapse of the "DEBT BUBBLE" - in the USA the housing bubble was reportedly less than 25% lower values on residential housing - a mere 'bagatel' of no consequence...

The DEBT bubble is estimated at more than 700trillion... For all corporate and personal earnings to be confiscated globally that would take some 50 years.... What I am trying to illustrate is that when that pops, all commerce will cease... as there is no money that is trusted or that the people have faith in being able to use with confidence... That will be a GAME OVER event with not a shot being fired...

Now show us what you will do to survive and then recover... No meteors, No wars, No droughts, No floods, 'Gaia' looking after herself very nicely... Just humanity and greed and stupidity and arrogance and simply BANKS collapsing because debts cannot be paid - and worst of all... ALL the stupid governments and advisers seek and get to give ever more in "advances" to the banks, to bail out the very organisations that got us into the mess to start with...

    - - - DO NOT BAIL OUT DEBTORS - put them in jail.....

PDW nailed it. Life may change in the future.
Until then, get a job, buy things that are worth having, and get on with life.

i disagree with a lot of your posts but i agree that the banks need to collapse and start again. in australia we need state banks and government owned utilitys again. apologys for hijacking the thread.

    Let me see....

The power generators are still there.

The steel mills & aluminium refineries are still there.

The oil refineries are still there.

The ships and planes are still there, along with their ports & airports.

    etc.

    What is missing?

The electronic shuffling of tokens known as money.

As I said, this is a software problem. A reset/reboot solves it (albeit painfully and probably, given politicians and banksters, temproarily).

So house prices deflate by 90%. I could care less. Well, actually, I couldn't care less because I have mine to live in, not some sort of speculative 'investment'. If the market values it at 10% of current price, so what? It still keeps the wind & rain out just the same.
