To me safety and comfort are paramount..there are some positively dangerous designs about.Innovators beware.

Thank`s white pointer that is one of many options.
I can not fly my helicopter because I don`t have a pilots license but I can bolt the copter to a barge with an outboard on the back and call it an air boat and I am allowed to fly in ground effect and train pilots in heli flying.
Better to have something cheaper like my air boat I am experimenting with for myself to go camping in the quiet spots.
Hovercraft have many limitations and do not fit the bill.
Perhaps we are not helping the original thread poster.

Something cheap and simple that does the job is what I prefer so I can recycle the parts for another modification or different approach. Throwing money at things is not my style and computer models and a professional approach is very time wasting, trying to get someone else to visualize and idea has problems as they only have their own experiences impeded in their minds.

Mmmm o..k... So what happens when your on land? Or places where the outboard won't go?

Would only be pushing a small boat, but something like http://koti.kapsi.fi/hvartial/dinghy3/gallery/gallery.htm
    Them, flat bottomed ect

Needs to be able to go on marshy land, where a outboard would just get tangled up, it's about 3 ft deep, or so but reedy/weeds :(

With a good prop, you would be looking at 2.5 to 3 lbs of static thrust per horsepower. With 25 horsepower, that's 50 to 75 lbs of thrust. This would be adequate in a lightweight single-person hull.

And on such a "hugely inefficient" air prop Fast Fred!
