    =====================
    It seems they didn't use the actual daggerboards-the top of one "board" is cut at a different angle than the other board. Looks like a.....big 45!

    Video of the ceremony last night. Congratulations Team New Zealand! http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=LYUVLE0jgNM

    Tony,

    I saw the Cooke brothers F40 cat possibly at its first coastal classic. At that stage its colour scheme was a very dark grey with red cross beams. I did have a couple of photos of it, now lost.

    I'm kind of sad that the AC72 rule is so restrictive and we wont be seeing wild fully flying catamarans or any 72' inshore trimarans. On one hand I understand the restrictions that are placed on offshore boats due to their high operating costs but I've always felt the AC should be the ground where billionaires go nuts on all sorts of ideas. Anyway I'm not griping and glad to see the AC in multihulls looking forward to seeing what the other teams come up with.

    After seeing what is possible now, it is hard as hell to refrain from wanting more, more- especially given the knowledge of what that could mean.

    I still wish the rules were... X feet long, no engines, no stored energy at the start of the race, go nuts.

    Stumble - I'd guess if you had $400,000,000.00 (like 'LE' - put on the table) - to play with 'big-toys' we might all care what you 'wish' but alas - neither are true.

    'Build a bridge' - 'get a life' & stop bitchen-in-your-britches. Enjoy what we are all watching unfold & have fun - life is far to short - to continue to find fault, eh ?? - - Ciao, james

    The Cooke Brothers cat has never been green and never been to Australia, it has however been to St Martin in the Carribean and is now in Denmark (see www.formula40.dk).

    If I recall correctly the slings on one hull slipped off or the lifting sling mount broke on one side and the boat dropped violently till pulled up by the remaining hull in the sling. A lesson in securely lashing the slings in position when craning out. They fixed the boat up so the damage was not as bad as it looked.
