Here's a slightly better print of the platform. All the interesting stuff like foils, steering, winch positions, wing control and such, maybe revealed at the official launching. I'll make sure I take the big 1Ds along for better quality.

Wasn't there a NZ formula forty catamaran that used a x cross beam formation? Gary may know more about it.

Yes, it was built by the Cook brothers in Christchurch; it was named Formula 40, strangely, no, it wasn't strange, because it was designed and constructed during the very first days of F40 so it was a hot buzz word, sounded very modern. The cat came up to Auckland and entered a couple of Coastal Classics. Last I heard the boat was being restored and upgraded but don't know where it is. And it would have to be one of the earliest with the lifted X beams; Robin Chamberlain did the same with his famous/infamous Antarctica cat.

To me the AC45's still were a bit cozy, familiar if you want. These are going to take "fun to sail" to a completely different level I guess.
    Thanks for the pictures.

    Gary,

The Cooke brothers F40 cat is now moored at Paradise Point here on the Gold Coast. It's still painted green - the original colour if I remember correctly.
