The more you deviate from a set of boat building plans, the more it defeats the purpose of buying them in the first place.
The key is to find a good, proven set of plans that best meets your SOR.
If those don't exist, then you may choose to design yourself, but gawd help you as this approach has proven problematic, at best, in the past.

Agree with Bluebell. Had plans for my boat existed, or even semi-similar, I'd have bought them. I did pay for plans for other boats, just to see some details.

That being said, the Rivera plans at $395 seem worth the money, just to look. Gerr's book can get you the rest of the way, if you want to adapt. I certainly would.

@terra , check out my build thread. Strip plank composite is an excellent construction approach. I ripped planks from the edge of dimension lumber. Worked very well for me. I believe 10' 2x8's gave me the most usable material per $, but the calculation changes frequently.

Dave Gerr's Elements of Boat Strength is a terrific resource.

May I just add that your resources and budget utterly dwarf mine. And I'll get there eventually. You will surely succeed, and enjoy every moment.

And thank you, appreciated. I'm fortunate that my wife gave me the green light for the project. This will be my nth current project so the pressure will be on to complete it haha.

Yes the CWBP is the one I purchased. Also own the Palm Beach 22' files and had them all redrawn in Solidworks also.

@terra , it seems to me that the Riva 27 would be an excellent candidate for strip plank composite construction.

It might be a good idea to combine two or three different building systems. According to the shapes of the boat, in each area, you will have to choose the most suitable one.
