Hello, I am Industrial designer and I find to complete my formation whith a MSc or Postgraduate in Marine Engineering, Yacht Design or similar. I am Diver and I love the sea, and I like work all the time in this ambient. I have work in automotive company and in I+D+i center developing nautical proyects and I like increase my knowledge outside Spain.

I have find the MSc Marine Technology in UK, and I think is a so good option to me. The cours is a combination of distance-learning material and one-week intensive schools. For this I think I could work at the same time, in England or in Spain.

    someone can advise me please?

I attach the program for this:

    ......................................................................

This programme aims to meet the needs of graduates and their employers. The programme is run by a consortium of six UK universities (mtec@work) recognised for their excellence in marine technology education and research. The universities involved are: Heriot-Watt, Glasgow, Newcastle, Strathclyde, Southampton and University College London.

    Programme Structure

Within the MSc or Postgraduate Diploma programmes, there are eight technology streams available: Naval Architecture; Marine Engineering; Offshore Engineering; Small Craft Design; Classification and Survey; Conversion and Repair; Defence; and a General stream. A Postgraduate Certificate in Marine Technology is also available.

Modules are also offered as stand-alone continuing professional development (CPD) modules, which may be suitable for those requiring specific subject training. All modules are approved as CPD by the Institute of Marine Engineers and the Royal Institution of Naval Architects.

Each module is delivered by a combination of distance-learning material and one-week intensive schools. Each module has a credit rating of 10 points and requires 100 hours’ study time. For each module, there will be pre-school preparation and post-school assignments.

No responses? That's too bad. I am also very interested in this program. I've looked at it several times, but I'm just not sure if it is right for me. I think I will contact them in a couple of months and ask some questions.

Hi prasanthyerneni and DavidJ, two post wow...

to answer to you prasanthyerneni about the Msc or similar ones, I have found the following ones interesting in Europe:

    - MSc Marine Technology in UK (www.mtec.ac.uk) continuing professional development from 2 to 6 years part time.

    - IED Venecia - Yacht design (Is one profesor called like me... German Freers)
1 year but more design that engineering.

    - DPEA ARCHITECTURE NAVALE - ECOLE NATIONALE SUPERIEURE D' ARCHITECTURE DE PARIS LA VILLETTE. 1 year to, more focalized in architecture.

    - You can find more in the six universities of the Mtec... Heriot-Watt, Glasgow, Newcastle, Strathclyde, Southampton and University College London. To find a 1 year course if you like do one full-time course.

And you can report to me if you find something interesting about Mtec... at german.hinojosa@gmail.com.

    Best Regards

Thank you Germán for the information. I was wondering if Venecia was more focused on design or engineering. Their website was not very clear.
