is tree sap on older gel-coat a big problem?

would a good coating of sap on this boat devalue it any more than an afternoon's worth of elbow grease?


How to clean a couple years of sap off the gel-coat without damage?

sap will brittle after a while.

 

Hot water, low pressure. Kärcher!

The more solid parts: rug with turpentine, soon rinse with soap water.

what does "Karcher" mean?

 

Use a heavy duty cleaner, like "Spray 9" or other. Mineral spirits or turps might spank it, though gasoline will probably wipe it right off. Of course get the area rinsed quickly after.

Good idea Richard, but I was thinking why not just sail it off... Prolonged exposure to water may well dissolve it.

Turpentine dries slowly and is works well. There is a general adhesive remover by 3M that also works well

 

A blast with a co2 fire exstigisher and freeze it it will just about fall off !!

 

I have found achohol is the only thing that cuts our pine sap. Try it.
