Doug - is that a proa, or is that just perspective hiding the other ama?

yep it is a proa. The main hull is very slender, so it needs the extra stabilty, The ama is asymetrical in plan, and the bridge deck allows for a more spacious seating arrangement. The idea is run smaller, yet still efficient ferries right from the communities they serve- emissions from larger ferries is the (newest) big stink out here.

Nice idea. Good looking, too :)

I suppose your main hull is listed(heeled) towards the ama.If not, ie,if the centerleine of vaka is perpendicular to the water, won't you have transv.stability problems?

I dont think so, The cg is allways someware between the vaka and the ama depending on the loading.

Really a good idea: I think it makes more sense than a power trimaran.
