    Building a Floating House (camp)

Hey there, I posted about a year ago and since then we have managed to finish the trusses that will connect our floats to the “house” part of the floating house. We ended up going with 12 sock floats that are 4’ x 8’ x 32”. At half submersion they will hold around 29,000 pounds. My question now...

    Has anyone used Permafloats?

So it has been almost exactly a year since my original post and I wanted to let you see the progress that has been made...it isn't leaps and bounds but it is forward progression. The attached photos are of the dock floats we will use to float the "house" and the trusses my husband has been...

    Building a Floating Camp

My idea for the camp is a 20' x 55' foundation with a 16' x 32' living area with loft and it will be used as a getaway in the bayous of Louisiana. Lol Not used for rental - just personal use and hopefully a permanent residence once the kids are gone.

    Building a Floating Camp

I did figure that they would support about 40,000 pounds each and I believe the 5,000/lb per pontoon is about right. So lets say a total of 80,000 lbs for both less the weight of the pontoons would bring it to 70,000 lbs and divide that in half I was figuring that the both together would hold...

    Building a Floating Camp

It's perfectly fine! This is why I posted...I have looked at deck barges but have not found any that won't have me paying an arm and a leg. The pontoons were given to us so it was kind of hard to pass up. lol

    Building a Floating Camp

I need some input on a floating camp we are in the beginning stages of building. Extreme beginning planning stage! haha We have two 55'L x 3'6"W x 3'4"H steel pontoons and want to put a structure that is 16'W x 35'L on them. The plan is to build the "foundation" to be 20'W x 55'L and place...

    Has anyone used Permafloats?

Haha - I agree about the gators and snakes but normally they aren't an issue. Once we start the build I'll post pictures but right now it's info gathering time.

    Has anyone used Permafloats?

The only pushing that would occur was if we would relocate the houseboat or I guess more accurately should be referred to as a floating camp. I planned to go with 4 rows of 3 - see attached image.

    Has anyone used Permafloats?

Hi there! I'm new to the forum and was wondering if anyone has used Permafloats for their houseboat/floating home? We are beginning the planning of a houseboat/floating camp and have looked at all of our options with the Permafloats being the best when it comes to cost but want to make sure...

    Houseboat weight

http://hchdev.wsiefusion.net/modular-homes-blog/How_Much_Does_A_House_Weigh This was a good reference...a 16 x 68 module of a triple wide mobile home weighed 49,000 lbs. P.S. Great idea on the pre-fab house idea!

    Houseboat weight

Hmmm... I wonder if that weight includes the foundation? Would be interesting to know. The floating house we are thinking about is 27'L x 16'W for a total of 432 sq ft. If those calculations are correct it would be 86,400 pounds - I'd have to do some serious re-planning!

    Houseboat weight

Hi there - I'm new to the site but we are planning to build a floating home/camp and in doing some research on the weight of a home I came across some sites for home relocation and demolitions and it seems the average weight per square foot living area was 60 lbs. Does this seem like a...
