With a Pivotal Drive the drive is up on the trailer and automatically lowers as the boat is launched just start the motor and sail away and the drive adjusts to water depth, the skeg lifts the drive with a cam like action when an object is struck or going aground. The power of the motor and thrust from prop does not have to be overcome for the drive lift up. The drive can be lifted up at the helm.
