| Looking for a classic plastic ±20' Daysailer I like sailing my Nordica 16 (14½' x 6' x 20"). I like its long shallow keel. I can moor it in 3' of water and sail over lines and lobster buoys. I like its weight (900lbs) easy to pull behind my Golf and to scull with a 7' sweep. I like that I can be sailing in 10 min.. I like the cuddy where I keep my gear out of the rain and spray. I like the outboard rudder. Sometimes I wish it would be a bit longer, leaner and easier in chop and have a self-bailing cockpit. Any suggestion to replace it with another classic plastic daysailer with a long shallow keel or CB through a shallow keel, self-bailing cockpit, 1200 lbs max., outboard rudder. Can be a gaff sloop. I wonder if I can find that. |

| Find your self a copy of the November 2011 issue of Practical sailer. What you want is the boat that is on the cover. http://www.practical-sailor.com/issu...2_10637-1.html

| In the 18' to 22' length range, you have the most choices available, literally hundreds of different designs. As to which would be ideal for you, only you can determine this. Log onto Sailboatdata.com and type 18' to 22' in the search box and see what comes up. |

| I have weakness for the Catalina 22. Ubiquitous, cheap and fun.

| All your requirements are fullfiled by the Oday 2+2 shallow draft -cuddy with two or four births- large cockpit- easily trailed about 1200lb- outboard rudder. A very good sailing boat and with a genny high powered in light air. It will leave boats like catalina 22 well behind in it it's wake. Since many were made and not all that costly to start with you may find a bargan out there. |

| Quote: The original poster mentiooned mooring in 3 feet of water. The Shields draws more than 1.5x that. The original poster also mentioned a max weight of 1200 lbs. The Shields weighs more than 4x that. Outboard rudder? Not on the Shields. |

| Rudder attached to the keel and lobster bouy prof is why the Shields, the Dark Harbor 20 and the Ludders 16 are so much loved as daysailors in Maine |
