Oh, I see the little island has 3 harbors, I've pictured the North West one in post #584, but Sven is in the North East one, oops . .

I think this boat will work pretty well, considering the limitations, but he is never in a big rush. In a recent video he said that once he has cleared the Faroe Islands and gotten south, he'll likely hang out in the Sargasso Sea for a month or more, until food runs low and then probably re-stock in the Azores. So don't be alarmed if he doesn't move much in the middle of the Atlantic. He's probably only reading a few hundred books and sketching on his next boat design. I have to admire this man for following his own path :)

June 2019, looks not too crowded there in the north east harbor, and on shore . . .

Pic is looking to the east, to the mainland, and the islands in between.

My assumption the boat was still on the trailer seems to be right, Sven just departed the island from the south east harbor, and is now on the North Sea.

Sven YrvindTracker — was moving fast at departure, maybe towed out —

Sven is obviously not in a hurry, but it looks like a good trip to Iceland to flesh out his supplies and a steady wind to New Brunswick for spending one of their mild Winters. Of course the Azores are nice too.

He's not near any lee shore so there are no problems I think, and Sven has planned to take a route west of the UK, so going west is good right now, he might find winds to go south after a while.

Sven is a year ahead of my now two years old expectations, despite his departure was so sadly held up by the Covid-19 pandemic for about half a year, so a huge building accomplishment !

    Congratulations Sven !

Despite a plotted route that looks like the flight of a butterfly in ultra-slomotion, he has almost cleared the Faroe islands, good job Sven. I imagine that as he can gradually reduce weight in the stern and gets more familiar and confident in his boat he will start increasing the pace a little. Hoping for some direct updates soon.

In November/ December 2018 I crewed on a 72feet racing sloop in the ARC across the Atlantic , it took us 15 days.. Almost hard for me to imagine how different his approach is
