    Is there a T-shirt? Where? I want one too! :D .

Btw, there is a PayPal donation function now on his site, front page bottom left. (Maybe it has been there a long time but I didn't notice it until some weeks back)

Guys it is important that all of us keep this Yrvind thread going.
We know he reads it :D :D :D

In this crooked world where the stupid thinking is "bigger is better"
we as small boat enthusiasts must support "small boats"
I am busy reading Roger Taylor - Mingming & the art of Minimal Ocean Sailing
I will write a short review after the holidays when I have finished the book.
But so far I can say this is very good stuff - Roger Taylor is in a class of his own

    So from all of us:
Sven have a good christmas holiday - we all support you :D

I had a thought.. As Yrvind is already thinking about the next, bigger boat after this one, not resticted to the "ridicilous 10 feet rule" (his own words pretty much).

I'm not a boat designer/constructor and know little about this epoxy-divinycell construction method, but my question is this, out of interest:

-Would it be possible and realistic to simply cut a boat like this in half and add a 5-foot section in the middle? And thus create a fairly roomy 15-footer?

And if that is realistic, should some considerations be taken in relation to that already in advance?

Sound like a pretty economical and logical shortcut to me, if time and money is limited and so much thought has gone into a single-use record breaker.

I follow this thread, as I can, and each time I see it I wonder what happened, if we lost this hero of the sea. I'd say the boat should have been named "Death Wish" and when I'm his age I wonder how it may be best to leave this world, attempting something great or puttering along a muddy bank? He's a lucky man to have always had it his way!

it's difficult to build - and it is still a long road ahead
and for all of us costs are a problem

basically this project started Jan 2012
now a year later we have a empty hull on a trailer
so there is still a long way to go
    but that is life

    (Edit)

So today (or rather yesterday, past midnight now) I went to the Stockholm Boat Show (Allt för Sjön). Had a look around all of the fancy boats, most costing well over €100.000 and many much more than that.. My personal favourite was definately the "Haber 660 Cutter". Standing out among the racy-looking sailboats with it's rusty-red sails, it's gaff-rig, and its tall cabin with almost full standing room for my 6'3.. The lighter version being trailerable on regular driver's licence and draft with the centerboard up less than 1.5 feet. Quality seemed fine also. Made in Poland and around €35,000 for basic version. http://haber-yachts.com/index.php?page=en-haber660kuter-g

Anyways, back to topic. -I saw Yrvind's current boat project at the show. It had a fairly big crowd of interested/puzzled/amused watchers. It sure has a profile/appearance of its own, being so short, fat and rounded. In it's current state, it's obviously hard to see a around-the-world-non-stop sailboat in front of you, but I guess that will change a lot the coming year.

Later I watched Yrvind's lecture about his life and journeys on the sea. Very interesting, shame it was only 1 hour, it felt like most episodes would have gained on getting much more time. He's actually very entertaining and funny, the audience was laughing frequently, in amazement of all of his adventures and at his absurdly understated accounts of them. He makes an Atlantic crossing sound like a stroll to 7eleven and being pitchpoled in the roaring 40's like slipping a bit on a banana peel..

Here are some pictures, sorry for the bad quality.
