    Tasmania is good - just far from his home and the time difference?
    South Africa is flying straight up and down, same day time and shorter flight and transport.
    Anyway good to read that the project is attracting LOTS of attention

    A bit small, but it looks like ocean currents warm and cold and Sven's planned route.

    Yes, that looks like a map of ideal/best shipping routes...one color will be for sail...another colored line for powered vessels usually...best routes in terms of winds/currents...I have a hardbound book/compendium containing notes on each passage area.The volume is called appropriately "Ocean passages For the World"...It was published by the Hydrographer for the Royal Navy I believe...

    In above pic it looks to me like the colours are blue for cold current and purple for warm current.

    Yrvind's site updated. Lamination now completed on outside of the boat. Will be interesting to see when he turns it "the right side" and we get to see how he'll design the interior.

    Any comments on the idea of having the facility to have the masts moveable either one up front and one back OR SIDE BY SIDE

    I assume that Sven would be able to do this from the safety of the "hatch" because to go on deck is dangerous, difficult to get back on the high boat in stormy and cold water.

    I am wondering if it is worth all the trouble in constantly shifting winds.
    Just thinking out loud. :confused:

    The more I look at the boat the more I like it - it really grows on you.
    Now that I have "lived" on my boat for the grand total of 2 weekends ;) I can assure you I could be comfortable in Sven's boat - 3 meters is plenty for a full length bed - the rest you build around it. Sleep comfortable and you can move mountains

    I'm a novice, but I can't see much harm in having the option. My understanding is that the rig will have un-stayed masts (?), and probably be quite lightweight (carbon?) and short, so in calmer weather, or even with some wind , probably quite doable? Sail area will hardly be much bigger than 2 Optimist sails, right? And can be fully reefed easily. Another benefit I guess is that he'd get back-up mast-feet (don't know the English term) if the for and aft ones would break. -The boat could probably maintain some sailing abilities with only 1 mast on the center left or right side. (Maybe better than with only 1 sail for or aft)

    Either that or the old woman who lived in a shoe needs a razor...lol...that looks a bit like my dinghy...actually alot like my dinghy...just alot bigger and a bit more free board

    Ouch, bad Luck Sven, hope that mess can be sorted. I can imagine that lamination of a surface that is not clean and dry is problematic.
