Hello...I'm fine here! Hope you're fine too. I'm also looking forward to it. But I think Yrvind should NOT put any pressure on himself to complete or start this adventure if he has any doubts about it.

One has ALWAYS the option to change ones mind for whatever reason.

    Open letter to Sven Yrvind

I have often wondered where would be the best place or country to start the "TEN" trip

I can truly recommend Port Elizabeth - South Africa
small harbor, very quiet, and good access
    same latitude as Cape Town
Port Elizabeth is known as the "friendly city"
    all transport facilities available
and because your currency is much stronger than ours - it is cheap here for you

what ever you do stay away from Cape Town
    very busy harbor
and they will "drown" you with legislation and endless paperwork and bullsh!t

looking forward to your great adventure
    god bless

Angel or YES - or any of the folks in the "North"
please see if we can get an e-mail address of any of the folks that are now working with Sven Yrvind - it would be fantastic if we could have "positive" communication

I looked at this - but I am lost with the language - the translator wont translate "links" funny things happen and I am not sure what goes on

That's to contact the agency "Sveriges Talare" - "Swedish Speakers" - too book a lecture of Sven or one of the others they do the bookings for.

To contact Sven he prefers the phone. Swedish time doesn't differ much from SA, but best to check it first.

    Good luck !

    P.S.
From the link in the quote:
Sveriges Talare booking agency -- Sven Yrvind -- translation -- to book a lecture by Sven, available in Swedish and English.

SA is one hour ahead of Sweden, but during European Summer Time the times will be the same.

In European winter call one hour earlier in SA time then the Swedish times Sven calls for.

European Summer Time runs from last Sunday in March till last Sunday in October, this year that's from 25 March till 28 October, there's no time difference between SA and Sweden then.

    Cheers,
    Angel

Is it possible to obtain more pleasure in this life than reading this thread and eating licorice at the same time?

Excellent tip, Manie B. I'm sure it's much more stressful at CT than in this nice harbor.

A question to Boat Design fans :

lets assume that his journey could take 10 maybe 12 months or more
that means that Sven will be spending a winter ( May to September ) in the southern hemisphere
winter in the south is just plain lousy
He should pass Cape Horn in summer ( Jan to Feb )

what do you folks think about this ??

The "republic" of Hout Bay is also a quite harbour (17 km from Cape Town) thus way too far for the officials. There is not even an harbour master, it s a free world for poachers, day and night. The yacht club is a lot cheaper and you have a regular bus to Cape Town for your yachting shopping. No offence Manie, I would just love to have somebody like Sven moored next to me :D
