My Yamaha V8 engine experienced a flywheel failure due to extended usage, which caused the warning light to turn on. When I ran a diagnostic check with my tool, it showed a fault code 87.

I immediately replaced the flywheel with a new one, but the fault code was still present. After some research, I found out that a flywheel reset procedure was required. However, I wasn’t sure how to perform the reset. After looking into it further, I found that my diagnostic tool had the necessary function for this procedure. Once I executed the FWM reset, everything was back to normal—great result!

Could have saved yourself a flywheel replacement by just resetting!

The old 350s if they spent a certain amount of time at a specific rpm range had abnormal flywheel issues. They didnt find a solution so just had a warranty for a set amount of hrs in that range they would swap flywheel. The free aspect ended a year or two ago, I had wondered what they guys still running the 350s were doing.

Have one friend who just swapped out to hondas and another who is getting near the need to do the flywheel service. What was a ballpark on parts and the tools?

I've forgotten. The flywheel was something I bought a long time ago, and this device was also purchased a year ago.
