Hard to believe that a high end vessel like that would possess an obviously weak link capable of sinking it.
I’m sure the insurance investigation will be interesting…

Please don't just post links. If you can't be bothered to write a couple of paragraphs, just don't.

You can't imagine the chaos that a waterspout can cause on a boat. I was hit by a tiny one on the ICW. The core was only about 4 feet across at the deck. It tried to rip my 38'er apart. If it had been 5 feet further forward it would have broken the mast into shrapnel before it had a chance to fall on the deck. And they carry stuff with them - like frozen fish and sharks and other boats. And I've had to spend hours hacking mats of sargasso weed off my mast, but I wasn't aboard for that one. It was wrapped up like barbed wire.

I doubt that the existing rules of design were ever intended to cover a vessel of such excessive dimensions!
Such things are in a class of their own, should be labeled “Experimental”.
More money than brains behind all that…

    (numbers to illustrate, not real)

Let's imagine a column of air: above a cube of 1,000 meters x 1,000 meters of 1.25 kilos per cubic meter, and below 1 kilo per cubic meter due to a very hot Mediterranean Sea

    The Column Collapses

The curious thing about the case is that in the already old books, let's say for example in 1954, the 'hurricane' season in the Mediterranean began on September 15 ...

and now in 2024 the 'hurricane' season in the Mediterranean begins on August 15

Note that the light above Bayesian is not to warn other ships but aircraft and perhaps low orbit satellites.

The Spanish Meteorological Agency was the first to warn of the impending danger days before

(but some did not listen or did not pay attention or who knows)

On the morning of the storm in Ibiza (images in the video) the NOAA Meteo-Fax showed the cold air wave:

And days later the explosive situation was created that sank the megayacht in Sicily on a very very hot sea.
