Yacht steering pedastal/steering wheel designs

    There is no such thing as a "safe" sailboat.
    Pooping (snicker) has always been a problem.
    I guess it's 'being pooped' in proper sailor English to refer to the calamity of a large sea boarding over the stern and washing the ship from one end to another, but the result to the crew is similar to being eaten by a goat and s--t over a cliff.
    Imagine what happened to the helmsmen on these two ships that lost wheel, binnacle with compass, etc when half the ocean came aboard for a nice visit and intimate chat.

    I really dig those old wheel houses. Oil up the canvas suit & ride out the storm.

    Perhaps the tried and true oil bag trailed astern would be a solution?

    But then the chopper with the Sheen Police might show up!
