    I just

    Hope it sounds good like a deep rumble v 8 or big block turbo diesel.

    It'd be dissapointing if it sounds like a Fzzzt (electric short circuit!):rolleyes:

    I'll hafta work on that aspect - the "Tim The Toolman" rumble factor is very important to marketing this new drive....with any luck I can throw in a rooster tail or two!;)

    Electrofishing as a 'side bonus' maybe?.

    Wait n see...I guess...

    Cheers!

    SailDesign Old Phart! Stay upwind..

    trouty,
    With the power-to-weight ratio you have going there, you could install a huge amp and speakers and play the V8 rumble as loud as you like.
    Just a thought....

    Danger!!! - Will Robinson

    Let me know when you are going to do a test run, so I can leave the planet. If you try this on a boat it will probably suck the worlds oceans along with your boat somewhere else.

    electomagnetic fusion

    [IMG]=[IMG]
    Save fusion is the only energy source indigenous to Earth that will last as long as our planet exists. Most fusion research reactors confine the nuclear fuel using magnetic fields. Route is the conventional TOKAMAK, in which magnetic fields are used to confine the nuclear fuel. Because we are still at a relatively early stage of fusion development, it is however essential to strive for a diversified programme that can withstand the physics and technological uncertainties that accompany any single class of fusion-reactor concepts. Deuterium, witch is arguably the ultimate fusion fuel for "second-generation" deuterium-deuterium fusion, comprises 0.015% of all of the hydrogen on Earth. Thus, (deuterium) fusion is a fuel reserve that will be available to us for as long as the Earth exists.

    in shockwave http://ippex.pppl.gov/ has good info on the TOKAMAK and also some hydrogen physics basics and games as well as a soundfile of of test run. (high wissle) :D

    hmmm
    so far the main link I see to yachts here is Donald Crowhurst and Teignmouth Electron:

    "I introduce the idea of (square root of -1) because it leads directly to the dark tunnel of the space time continuum..."

    IT IS THE MERCY

    Of course

    Polarity - Sq rt -1 becomes possible with negative length and anti gravity. ;)
    Yipster - I knew you wouldn't fail me...well done indeed... Plasma is key...
    You were just Fission for more info on Cold Fusion, isn't that right!!! :p

    Yes we must frst be able to envision something before we can invent it now mustn't we?

    Plasmoidal induction Yipster - don't give up on it totally just yet, yes theres a long way to go but it's always fun to have been along for the whole ride.

    So - any ideas how these emerging technologys will allow us to propell a vessel across the oceansYipster (practical application of energy from the time domain application to vessel propulsion)?

    Do we make de boat go faster(always an attractive proposition for some), or do we in fact distort (shorten) the ocean?

    Tortiose and hair, people....

    What do we have to work with?

    Energy (from time)
    A vessel
    The ocean

    How do we couple this together? - do we extract the energy from time and convert it to electrical energy then use it to drive a plasmoidal induction drive?

    Any other bright idea's?

    Cold Fusion engine concepts?

    I'm all ears - anyone can think latterally - but what better people for that than the boat designer?????

    Cheers!

    "Lean close. Are you watching? Okay, now."

    "What is it?"

    "It's a hydrogen atom. Want me to create another?"

    "How did you do that?"

    "Well, this spherical space here on the table is a bubble of hard vacuum which I created by ... how proficient are you with n-dimensional vector calculus?"

    "Um..."

    "Okay, I'll simplify. What you see before you is an artificially created pocket universe."

    "Cool! With stars and worlds and everything in it?"

    "Well, so far it only contains a few dozen hydrogen atoms."

    "Awww."

    "But if you'll just wait a sec. There."

    "Wow! What did you just do?"

    "I cooled down the subatomic flux. Thus creating a lot of hydrogen atoms."

    "What's that twinkling?"

    "They're combining. Now we've got a lot of H2 molecules. Let's give it a stir."

    "Stars! Gazillions of them! They're forming galaxies!"

    "Keep watching."

    "Whoops — that one just blew up. Now others are doing it."

    "Supernovae. It's an important stage in the evolution of any universe. The stars were originally composed entirely of hydrogen. But under the intense gravitation, heat, and radiation at the heart of stars, hydrogen is transformed into iron, calcium, plutonium — into the entire periodic kingdom of elements, in fact."

    "Nifty."

    "Yes, and they're being released. Future generations of stars can have proper planets now."

    "What's the big deal with planets? They don't even provide their own illumination."

    "Life, old son — life! Watery oceans, long-chain hydrocarbons, the whole nine yards. Now we've got self-organizing systems. Complexity. Evolution. You get the most delightful animals."

    "How far does it go?"

    "There's no telling. It's usually about this point that I shut the universe down."

    "What! Why?"

    "If you let it go too long, you get intelligence. Tiny little spacecraft darting all about the place. The next thing you know, your entire universe is infested. They get into no end of mischief. Moving stars, rebuilding galaxies and whatnot."

    "Sounds nasty."

    "It is. Once intelligent life gets loose, your universe is worthless. The best thing to do then is simply tweak the constants again and watch every star blow itself to kingdom come."

    "Well, this has all been very interesting. I'm going out for a drink now. Care to join me?"

    "You run ahead, and I'll catch up with you later."

    "What's the holdup?"

    "I've got an emergent civilization on that blue-and-white planet there, and I want to wait until they can create pocket universes of their own before I shut things down."

    "Why?"

    "Oh, it's silly of me, I know. But destroying the universe is a lot more fun when the little ******** can see it coming."

    in case you were thinking that the Internet needed more periodic tables check these out, yes mac, palm and pocket downloads as well. in java, shockwave and more. sample poem above came out of a H element. better ones on H2O (water) also. a link worth mentioning to the einsteins among us ;)

    smoke on the water

    I've been thinking and after seeing and hearing the enthusiastic physicist Richard Fijnman on telly again last night I found the courage to bore you guy's a little longer here and elaborate on my thoughts for boat (to space ship) propulsion of the future.

    While high gravity wormholes sucks H and straight measuring away and probably form in time new H fusion suns the outer borders of our universe are found by echo's of (minimal) H square ft. Hydrogen, atom nr 1 is the basic material of everything and its content forms the basic building blocks from witch higher elements are made, same electron, pro and neutron, only more.

    It is relatively simple to peel the electron from hydrogen. When entering a free neutron past the electron defense into another H element the overcharged core will fall into two cores with each two electrons, and change into the next up element, helium. In this immeasurable moment (time) energy is released, your thoughts trouty?

    Lightning, saint elmo's fire and northern light, a glass lightplaybal, maybe even a fluorescent tube and like the word says: "plasma" tv, aren't that already ionizing processes releasing neutrons and is or isn't that "cold" fusion?

    Am I rite so far? Haven't got the plans for a boat motor but I still wonder about safe "cold" fusion, its obvious what it could mean for us H2O people!

    If both hydrogen and oxygen are flammable, then why doesn't water burn?
    Hydrogen and oxygen will burn to form water if in an appropriate mixture. Pure hydrogen by itself and pure oxygen by itself will not burn (hydrogen needs an oxidizer and oxygen needs a reductant). Water (H2O) is a stable chemical compound that does not have the characteristics of the elements that make up its composition (hydrogen and oxygen). This is true of most chemical compounds. Hydrogen has the highest energy content per unit weight of any known fuel-52,000 Btu/lb (120.7 kJ/g). It burns cleanly. When hydrogen is burned with oxygen, the only byproducts are heat and water. When burned with air, which is about 68% nitrogen, some oxides of nitrogen are formed. The ultimate source of hydrogen is water. when producing hydrogen, we would also produce oxygen, which would both be consumed in the same ratio as produced. So there would be no depletion of oxygen from the atmosphere. Electrolysis does not require significant amounts of water. The hydrogen extracted from a gallon of water using a hydrogen generator could drive a hydrogen fuel cell vehicle as far as gasoline vehicles travel today on a gallon of gasoline. The energy required to produce hydrogen via electrolysis (assuming 1.23 V) is about 32.9 kW-hr/kg. For 1 mole (2 g) of hydrogen the energy is about 0.0660 kW-hr/mole. Problem so far is that producing burning water is more expensive than gasoline. Because a Watt is Voltage x Current, this is equivalent to Power x Rate x Time. The power in this case is the voltage required to split water into hydrogen and oxygen (1.23 V at 25°C). The rate is the current flow and relates directly to how fast hydrogen is produced. Time, of course, is how long the reaction runs. It turns out that voltage and current flow are interrelated. To run the water splitting reaction at a higher rate (generating more hydrogen in a given time), more voltage must be applied similar to pushing down on the accelerator of a car; more gas is used to make the car go faster. Lowering the voltage for electrolysis, which will increase the energy efficiency of the process, is an important area for research. Is burning hydrogen like the hydrogen bomb? No. Burning hydrogen, just like burning gasoline, natural gas, or a candle, is a chemical reaction, which means that only the electrons get shifted around and new compounds are made, like water, but the basic atoms are the same. In a nuclear reaction, hydrogen nuclei collide and fuse into helium nuclei, releasing tremendous amounts of energy. Because hydrogen nuclei are positively charged, they repel one another. To get hydrogen nuclei close enough together to fuse, the hydrogen nuclei must be heated to fantastic temperatures (typically hundreds of millions of degrees). This heating is done with a fission bomb-a uranium or plutonium bomb. When the fission bomb explodes, its heat is enough to trigger the hydrogen bomb.

    1H -as only element- has NO neutron. It’s the 2H (deuterium) we really want.
    In most hydrogen atoms the centre (or nucleus) contains only one proton. In 2H (deuterium) the nucleus contains an additional neutron particle, 0.015 % of 1H is 2H witch is planty. while for 3H (tritium) there are two neutrons with one proton.

    some possible H fussion examples:

    fusion processes in our sun:
    1H + 1H --> 2H + positron + neutrino
    1H + 2H --> 3He + foton
    3He + 3He --> 4He + 1H + 1H

    fusion research mainly focuses on:
    2H + 2H --> 3He (0,82 MeV) + n (2,45 MeV)
    2H + 2H --> 3H (1,01 MeV) + 1H (3,02 MeV)
    2H + 3H --> 4He (3,5 MeV) + n (14,1 MeV)

    oech, had a long good story (i thought) ready on how Hydrogen will be used in some years. The differce with hydrogen fusion and its enormes potential. Ideas for a in between safe cold fusion system. Recalled the old school electrolysis experiment using a transparent 2 ft garden hose bent in a U form. Filled with salt (better conduction) water, on the left bottom side insert a 12v +needle and on the right side the 12v –needle. Bubbles will form on the needlepoints and surface. Put a balloon on each open top end of the hose and you got hydrogen and oxygen. When released over a small flame it explodes. and some more but I had a crash. My story Lost in space! So I collected some history and give you what I got, I’ve not gone in hybernation yet!

    Trouty, wherever you get your info from, i think you either got it from a bogus source, or interpreted it wrong. A wormhole doesn't curve spacetime, black holes do. And any attempt to curve spacetime here on earth would be the end of, well, just about everything as the immense gravitational forces associated with such a large mass would draw us into the singularity and we would die. As for your big breakthrough of 2003, you are a little behind the times my friend, three years ago in a basic science class i learned about this theory, and the reasons it would never work. e-mail me if you want to get into details about this Zeke_the_viking@yahoo.com

    Also, the ionization that occurs in common devices today is in no way shape or form cold fusion, or any type of fusion, or fission for tha matter. ionization is merely adding or removing electrons from an atom resulting in a positive or negatively charged atom that soon looses the extra electron and emits a small amount of energy in the form of either heat or light, which is why flourescent lights glow, lightning makes a bright light, and your plasma tv shows pictures. Fusion occurs when two or more atoms combine to form a new atom with completley different properties. cold fusion is so named because it happens at room temperature or slightly above, while normal fusion, look at the sun, occurs at millions of degrees.

    Zeke, thats rite, but never say never: http://www.spacedaily.com/news/energy-tech-04o.html
    although some sites are changing faster than i can write, a price of about 60 cents a litre i recall was quoted somewhere for electolising H2O in H2+0. getting tired of trowing battery's in water splitting water myself i went for bottles. 3.90 for H and 2.80 euro for O! plus had to sign a paper i wont use H for drugs. hope i and all university's in the world arent doing anything illigal looking how to ionise it.

    for the real thing here a lay-out (not very succesfull yet) plasma reactor, very similar to trouty's , time to udate your avatar?

    I wish you guys would hurry up and figure this all out so I can add a seacock to my boat and suck fuel right out of the ocean!!! This 2 bucks a gallon for gas business is getting old, real old with a 135 gallon belly to fill for 1 day's fishing! :eek: Think of the range!! I could cross the Gulf and fish the Keys anytime I wanted! (Well maybe I'd need a little bigger boat......)

    5 bucks a gallon here! bought H and O at 15 and 11 a gallon while reading you can get it for $ 3 and in a few years that will be $ 1 the gallon at the station, ex taxes. stil investigating things as our pleasure only uses slightly less. when in need for instant H you may check powerballs
