Wondering required parts to swap mercruiser 4.3 v6 to v8

    Except the mounts between a 4.3 and a 5.0/5.7 are in different places……the V8 is also a couple of inches longer

    It is only a couple of inches further from the stern. Unless the stringers were unusually short it should be no problem.

    No telling until you measure the clearance in the engine bay . . . but . . . boats typically come with engine options and it would be reasonable that the engine mounts would accommodate the larger engine options. I would suspect that the 4.3 was the lower engine option.

    Unless they are worlds shortest stringers………I’m guessing a boat of that age is 3/4” plywood on edge and then a small plywood box on the inboard side on which the engine mounts……lag bolted down…..no actual mounts to move.
