I cannot imagine that a competent professional designer would even sharpen his pencil for $300. Four days to contest end is not realistic. Even if you find a knowledgeable person to do the design and all the calculations that are such a critical part of the design, it might take 30, 60, 90 days to do it well.

If you get a $300 design then : Buyer beware.

Agreed, though an in-house "spec" might work for those that have this time, or project floating around the "drawer". Lastly the requirement for 'toons, suggests they don't have much experience with "houseboats". If you want to use twice as much power as would be necessary with other hull forms, employ 'toons for the hulls. I've only done one 'toon boat and it turned out well, but . . .

Thank you for your replies. We are looking for creators to offer a demonstration of their abilities and knowledge, not for the full plans. We would like to collaborate further with the winner of the competition.

Anyone can draw pretty pictures with modeling software, but can they engineer viable structures, that take folks well past the point they can't swim back to shore? Houseboats generally remain berthed and very occasionally venture into deeper water, but there's still a significant liability and the random oddball that does go out in something less than desirable.

If you're looking for some collaboration, do yourself a big favor and find a qualified designer or NA, if you interested in having substantial yachts or houseboats designed. Just meeting classification requirements can be a daunting task for a novice, even if his CAD skills are quite good.

The OP might take a look into your drawer . . .

Riverboat / Houseboats / that are real boats (and not floating caravans on pontoons) :)
