which type of hull is in this pic??

    Well you may be right but I think that a designer would have to be pretty dense to make such a thing without an air inlet just where the dark spot is that looks like a slot opening to me. Have to be real dense to not know that a closed off area there would create lots of drag and carry some dead water along. In order to have any air entrained on the bottom any boat needs to provide for some suction and the closed off forward "keel" does that. A step bottom works the same way.

    While I agree that it is not high tech, it does look like an attempt to do high tech.
