Alas, the passenger lines are not shown on Google Maps . .

The green arrow in the screenshot indicates the direction in which the first pic was taken...

First pic below shows a somewhat wider view on the place. In the area above the green ‘‘H’’ are some historic naval and port items on display of which some can be seen in the second pic. I will tell about them later, but maybe you'll find out about them yourself . . ? ? (then you really know how sneaky I am )

Btw, Lurvio's missus would love to know about some of those items....

Well, my calling Angélique sneaky would be a good clue, and here's why. We are still in Montevideo, Uruguay.

This really bugged me, as the place looked really familiar and somehow skandinavian, so at first I was looking at a totally wrong direction. Well the familiar part became obvious when the answer revealed itself.

It was, indeed, the sneaky comment that set me off! I was then pretty sure that the shape of the land I could see in picture 3 related pretty well to your Montevideo map, Lurvio. I could also see a really distinctive building in the distance in picture 3, and a quick image search for 'Montevideo architecture' confirmed it was the Palacio Salvo.

Second sneaky thing was missed . . ? ?

I guessed Lurvio would be the first to know as the screenshot was meant to reveal it to him as I knew he had recently zoomed in on the place for his picture.

Don't know if it worked out that way... but anyway L was the first and the 'sneaky comment' was a good clue for between the lines readers

But, eh... did someone find out about the other sneaky thing about the items on display in pic 4 . . ? ?

Montevideo was here before, posted by Wardd in post #4989, with a pic of the range finder of the Graf Spee.

Parts of Graf Spee's anchor and range finder as posted by Richard can be seen in pic 4, as well as the same building . .

These items and the ship's history I thought Lurvio's missus might be interested in . . . .

Ah.. "PM" might be a little clue for the harbour . .

 

Hmm! I thought I recognized that tower-like building from Barcelona harbour, a little north of Barceloneta, but I can't find it now, so I am probably wrong..

 

Try "Port Olimpic" maybe you see the building you mean . . ? ?

But alas, it's far off...

A bit of architecture by Santiago Calatrava gives it away.

 

Yes, that's what brougt me there, I've seen some of his work in Holland recently which made me look into his portfolio after seeing this pic.

Btw, the "PM" clue goes for the harbour* as well as for Santiago's work there, which is "WB" in English for the latter.

* which differs from the city's name, to lead not too much astray . .

Well, Angélique and philSweet seem to be on the right area. :idea: Pretty cool thing that bridge, to pivot sideways to allow ships trough.

And yes none of the clues so far point to the actual city, but a specific area of it. Santiago Calatrava's name should make the search easy.
