Well couldn't resist to take another look..........

    About the Battle of Crete:
‘‘Over four nights, 16,000 troops were evacuated to Egypt by ships including the light cruiser HMS Ajax. The majority of these troops embarked from Sphakia. A smaller number were withdrawn from Heraklion on the night of 28 May.’’

About Sfakiá: (Sfakiá = Sphakia = Σφακιά)
‘‘After the Battle of Crete during World War II, the locals helped many New Zealand and Australian soldiers escape from here on the night of May 31, 1941, suffering great reprisals.’’

The escape there must have been trough the Imbros Gorge as the parallel Samariá Gorge already has fallen off in this quest.

    ... and ... suprise ... suprise ...

In the Imbros Gorge we find the same as in Teddy's picture . . . .

    Will try to put up a new one soon . . . . . .

But if there is another taker please go ahead . . :)

    Cheers,
    Angel

    Well..... well done :D
I didn't think it was as hard as it was.. A long long time ago (~40 more or less) read a lot of these http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Commando_Comics and ther was more than once stories about the battle of Crete so I've allways known that bloody gorge so it was kind of a must to walk throw it..
But my point is: DIDN'T NOBODY ELSE READ THOSE COMICS

I didn't read them either, but my uncle drove a tank all the way to Germany at the front of Patton's army. His team put the first Bailey Bridge across the Rhine River. 12th(Mystery) Battalion. I asked him once about the maps and he answered he didn't have time to read them because they were moving too fast and he drove. Even at 82 years old he drove the mountain roads in Kentucky faster than I would.
