I've never been there, but Perry have just brought my attention to it.
Southern hemisphere, the locals build beautiful long boats in wood and canvas.
    Where is it?

perry told me where it was so I can not post that here, it did look like kadavu, which you can see from 100miles out, very high with firewalkers . i guess touristy now
before the days sat nav, many fiji bound yachts would end up on the ASTROLABE reef. as they approached Suva
I repaired a ferro yacht that had gone up and over the reef and just bent her strut!!, name 46 South LeX HAMILL; THEY BOUGHT steel after that, the (navigator) had added the vaVarn, instead of subtracting
Apart from theouter Islands Fiji is commercial touristy and the natives are greedy thugs
    will try email agin

I intended to go to Tristan de cuhna years ago but in heavy weather we made Cape Town instead. I called my eldest son after that Island.

Here's another island similar in many respects but further north and in a different ocean. This is the place to go for gentle happy and helpful people so different to manland Fiji which as Stu said is overrated.

The grave I photographed there, The Rev Williams would be tickled to know that his london 'Missionary society' had become the 'Miss Lovely society' and that he hadn't been massacred but had suffered the interesting fate of malsacration................... shudders:)

If you look carefully in the forest pic you will see some of my motly crew.

Tibetan Buddists decided this was an energy centre and buried part of a prior dali lama or someone similar at the exposed volcanic core we visited on the cross island walk.

Your pictures are from Rarotonga, Cook islands.

    Yes Guillermo
    Well done.
Sorry to confuse you I was talking about Tristan d.c. I called ny son Tristan.

Raratonga and all the Cook Islands are worth visiting
A very gentle undeveloped place. The way Tahiti was 30 years ago but is no longer. If you like peace and quiet and natural beauty with a combination of tropical island and temperate mountains rivers forest and beaches then this is a very good place to go.
