What's the difference between lifeboats and a normal boat?

Alternatively, one could convert an old RNLI lifeboat like Swn Y Mor ('Star of the Sea') and turn her into an ocean cruising yacht.
Swn Y Mor has been around the world, and I am sure that she has so many stories to tell about her adventures.
In the photo below she is alongside a 'modern' RNLI lifeboat.
