Web site to sell deaigns and plans

Hi all,

I am thinking about lunching a web site, on which we can offer our designs and plans of small boats 24min lenght or less for low price some think like:

100$ for lines
100$ for GA
100$ for stability calculation
500$ for construction drawings

Price can go up for tested deaigns or for biger boats

( all types for boats yachts , fishing vessels, catamaran, work boats, tugs, supply vessels,etc...)

What do you think guys about this idea?

Can we make some money out of this?

 

Is your plan to use (lisence) other people's plans or to create them by you/your company.

I think you will be pretty hard pressed to beat the competition. Bateau and others have the small boat corner quite well covered with many many tested designs. It takes time to build a caalogue of designs that actually have beeb built (big encouragement for prospective buyer).

Also most would want the "whole package" - no point in buying just lines.

 

$100.00 for lines (study plans) is really high. Reputable designers sell them for $25.00 or so in the hopes of selling the whole package later.

You are in the business. So, I (not in the business) have to wonder how you have done your research in the past without finding reputable designers already?

Do a google search for study plans sail boat, canoe, or kayak. And plenty will pop up.
