    Hello everyone
For several months I read the articles on the forum and decided to put together a Weed eater engine on my Kayek, length is 4.20 meters and width of 1 meter, 30 pounds net weight, Kayek model from Hobby Kayek wide and comfortable, I fish with him in the Mediterranean,
The engine is found at a good price from China from ZOMAX. Engine is 33 cc 1.5 hp weighs 7 pounds,
I have a number of questions im possible?
How do you think will behave Weed eater engine at sea?
. Size motor will fit the dimensions of Kayek?
What to wear to prevent the propeller?
How to silence this engine? He has a 108 dB
First I had a mini engine Kota 50 lb seed to a battery of 105 ampere, Kayek of nice but the battery is over quickly.
It is important to me your opinion and your experience would love to hear comments
    Thanks Doron

If you dont have much experience in building, i think you would be better served with any 2hp outboard engine instead. Noise-reduction on your weed-eater is of course poissible, but it is likely to be bulky and less effective than wet exhaust used on most outboards. For a prop, start with APC propellers of different size and pitch. With a GPS on board, you will easily enough be able to determine what size is best.

    Dont forget a Paddle!!

Best of luck, I think you will need it..

Thanks for the quick response, I have experience, I built everything with an electric motor kayek traveled 6 mph, but not for long,
Which might mean the 2 hp motor

In an earlier thread, i think it was "efficient electric boat" there was repported a method for increasing range/effect of trolling motors by exchanging the weedless prop, fairing the underwaterpart of the shaft, and replacing the controller unit with a less wasteful one.
If you read up on MInn-Kota, the pricier models have more energy-efficient controllers that increases range quite a bit.

What kind of rpm do you get out of the weedeater? this will be of importance for choice of prop.. And how do you intend to cope with corrosion? Weedeaters are not made for a saltwater invironment, and I am worried about how long it will last. Even with good fresh water cleaning and drying between sessions.

again, if the goal is boating and fishing rather than "Look, Made It Myself!"
I would probably go with a second hand 2hp outboard.

If you really want to build yourself, all the power to you.

    regards

The bit of that long thread with the gems of information from MCDenny's work are here: http://www.boatdesign.net/forums/boat-design/efficient-electric-boat-27996-17.html#post305142
