    Thank you all......

Thank you all ....for the great replies.

    I don`t think I would like one ( mega / super / ultra yacht ) , actually.

I would enjoy a nice comfortable boat , but only if you can operate it yourself.

So ...30 m plus seems to be the " starting point ".
I can say with confidence that I will never own one.:D

    Right then

If by definition, a superyacht has loads of crew- where does the 'Wally' fall into the mix as they are largely designed to have absolutely minimal crew.

Boat fan, do not believe a single post above. Superyachts is a term for sailing racing machines made of exotic and expensive materials, capable of speeds no other "regular" sailing yacht is capable of. Megayachts are motor-powered toys of rich people who have to compensate somehow for certain bodilly irregularities they suffer from.

Crew was not mentioned when describing "mega" or "super" -yachts.
(Both terms are NOT related to either propulsion motor or sail, just size and luxury!)

But naturally with all the gimmicks you need a complete Hotel crew to get a standard meal served.
Besides of the "Hotel Service" which is owners choice only, there are regulations about manning every larger vessel! So, from a given point onwards there IS crew, if we ike it or not.

    Regards
    Richard

Good grief, 27 posts and the 'super yacht' issue is still rambling on.

A 'superyacht' is like a big house. It costs more to maintain and it takes you longer to get to the loo I mean head.
