This is the actual temperature graph compiled by R. S. Bradley and J. A. Eddy based on J. T. Houghton et al., from "Climate Change: The IPCC Assessment", (Cambridge UniversityPress, Cambridge, 1990 and published in EarthQuest, vol 5, no 1, 1991.) which appeared in the IPCC's literature before MBH-98 and other works of 'The Team' were published. Those works have been deeply discredited, while the above compilation, and many others like it, have withstood rigorous criticism.

Another load dumped in the driveway. More mindless anti-California drivel. You'd think California was Iran or something, the way some people think....

Police in the other 49 states don't haunt emergency rooms looking for illegals to bust, either. And there is no California state law or policy "forbidding the police from arresting people for being here illegally."

You're thinking of Special Order 40, which was a policy implemented in the City of Los Angeles by the LAPD -- not a state law. It prevented the police from asking someone whether they were here legally or not. The intent was to keep crime victims from being afraid to report crimes.

In case you aren't aware, enforcing federal immigration laws isn't normally part of a local policeman's duties anyway. Trying to blame our illegal immigration on that is nonsense. As is your insinuation that our welfare rolls have been inflated by potheads swarming the state for medical marijuana. Get a grip....

And by the way, despite what you apparently believe, welfare recipients in California do have to prove they're legal residents.

And if you think the pitifully low wages paid to farm workers are somehow destroying the economic infrastructure of California, you're somewhere off in an alternate dimension. In this one, raising farm wages would probably help the economy, not hurt it. People can't spend money they don't make, and money in circulation is what makes the economy go round.

Fill in the 4th point on your own time; I'm not doing all the work here.:p

There is SO MUCH HYPOCRISY on both sides of the immigration reform issue that I don't know why anyone would want to go there. Both sides look really bad.:(

Also consider that all these jets are burning ozone (O3) rather than normal diatomic oxygen, because that's mostly what's available at their cruise altitude, up in the 'Flight Levels". The amount of ozone WE KNOW they burn far exceeds the amount that THEORETICALLY MAY BE consumed by free halogens in the stratosphere.

    Despite the known facts that:

    • the jets burn this ozone away from the poles (very few flights over the poles)
    • the anthropogenic 'halon' gases are released away from the poles (refrigerants not used much at the poles :D)
    • the stratosphere IS NOT part of the 'well mixed' portion of the atmosphere (a key piece of the AGW narrative)

Yet the thin spots in the so-called 'ozone layer'* are at the poles, just as predicted, some 20 years before the commercialization of the halon gases as refrigerants.

*there is really no such thing; rather there's just a continuously varying ratio of O2/O3, starting at nearly 100% O3/02 in the stratosphere to the converse at the ground

Finally, 20 years after the ban, the 'hole' is as big as ever.

One of things that has put a smile on my face for the duration of this thread is the thought of the frustration among the pompous, arrogant and elitists of the warmist movement every time they realize the value of the vote for us unwashed ignorant, racist, masses who don't believe in the AGW religion is the same as theirs.

Which is why ACORN and other frauds/thugs exist; to steal our votes or intimidate us into acquiescence[sp.].

The last page or two has been an illuminating look into the mindset of the kind of people who pride themselves on being global warming skeptics -- who take pride in their ignorance, as it were.

Of course, I suppose it's a bit much to expect rational thinking on any subject from folks who believe 37 million people in California are all pot-smoking, elitist, tree-hugging, illegal fairies on welfare.

Considering it has to dip into that pool for a workforce and its financial, industrial and political leadership, I wonder how and why California still manages to have the eighth largest economy in the world....

California is facing a $26.3 billion budget deficit for the 2009–2010 budget year....why would you think that is the 8th largest economy?

"37 million people in California are all pot-smoking, elitist, tree-hugging, illegal fairies on welfare" - That is absolutely ridiculous. I am 100% with you on this one, Troy - Only a right wing nut would think more than 20 million, tops. There has to also be working families to support the wants of the politicians, unions and other bums.
    'The Beholden State'
    - Steve Malanga writing in City Journal:

The camera focuses on an official of the Service Employees International Union (SEIU), California's largest public-employee union, sitting in a legislative chamber and speaking into a microphone. "We helped to get you into office, and we got a good memory," she says matter-of-factly to the elected officials outside the shot. "Come November, if you don't back our program, we'll get you out of office.'
The video has become a sensation among California taxpayer groups for its vivid depiction of the audacious power that public-sector unions wield in their state. The unions' political triumphs have molded a California in which government workers thrive at the expense of a struggling private sector. The state's public school teachers are the highest-paid in the nation. Its prison guards can easily earn six-figure salaries. State workers routinely retire at 55 with pensions higher than their base pay for most of their working life. Meanwhile, what was once the most prosperous state now suffers from an unemployment rate far steeper than the nation's and a flood of firms and jobs escaping high taxes and stifling regulations. This toxic combination-high public-sector employee costs and sagging economic fortunes-has produced recurring budget crises in Sacramento and in virtually every municipality in the state.

Its the same everywhere, really. Notice that the EU Chancellor has declared that vacation travel is a right and the top 50% should be paying for the bottom 50% to vacation. Notice also, that I have repeatedly propped California as I was once a California kid, know it well, and wish it the best. That is why this nation-leading, WORLD LEADING, locale needs to shake the binding chains and go back to its roots, oust the corrupt politicians and union bosses...WHATEVER HAPPENED to our unions we could be proud of, anyway? Have you asked yourself WHY there are so many jokes about union workers and why people are afraid of them?

Oops, looks like one from "CA, general" got mixed in there.
This is all so entertwined, AGW, SEIU, Barack, Congress, corruption, in general...I'm sorry but where does one draw the line? It is ALL political. It is ALL perverse.

well Lordy ( christian mythological figurehead who's name I take in vain from time to time ) knows I hate to agree with Mark on political issues but in a nut shell I gotta hand that last round to him. Troy is of course right and Cali does have one huge economy and it is also not entirely populated with flaming gays and pot smoking crack addicts, but, the hard reality is that the corporate oligarchy has taken over and at the expense of he common man. In the case of he unions its leaders have managed to overindulge the union jacks to a point were the entitlements outweigh by far the value of the work performed and this as a smoke screen for the greed of the union officials who not only make that 6 figure salary you mentioned but then soak up a lot of graft to perform the job they were supposedly hired to do; maintain the health of both the work place and the workers and not drive employers out of biz.

The solution is fairly simple actually. Let the employers decide what they are willing to pay and let the workers decide if they are willing to get payed that much (would get rid of a lot of illegals) , limit or eliminate immigration, eliminate all forms of tax except import duties and sales tax, make all political posts single term volunteer positions and enforce strict environmental rules while freeing the hands of business to function rather than saddle them with accounting mandates and tax regulations. That and require a significant percentage of items sold by any one business to be entirely produced in country.

essentially go back to what made this place the biz powerhouse it once was, now granted the effects of ww2 had a lot to do with our former prosperity but the fall came from politicians selling out the country, solution, throw the bums out one and all in whatever form of revolution is necessary to do so.

I can see Troy's point Mark but you are right on it when you state some of the basics of why we have failed, and fail we have. how many millions of folks are on food stamps and what, another half million jobs lost last month. If you think this crash is over just stick around, if we are lucky enough folks will get pissed off enough that you just might not only see the first black president elected but you might just see the second american revolution and none to soon, this clown is worse than the last as if anyone thought that was possible.

the whole thing reminds me of that movie Head of State with Chris Rock in that some fool who knew how to speak to people came along and fouled up a carfully constructed paradigm of pure horse ****. Won the job and found himself surrounded by shysters. Now Im not suggesting Obumer is as qualified a Chris Rock to be presedent, obviously he is not ( check out his version of health care as one shining example; anyone with any form of job required to go buy there own at whatever price the insurance companies want to charge ) but its not entirely his fault as he was handed a disaster by old Reorge and following the advice of the shysters hemorrhaged dollars till you can wipe your *** with them and still not have spent what you would have on TP. Thing is they all need to go, a clean sweep and a whole new set of laws to ensure it never happens again.

    oh
and treason trials for em all to determine exactly who sold out what and when as well as seizure of all assets and properties to pay off the bonds they sold to china at our expense

while Im on a role lets elimination of the fed and he tiered reserve system of banking and get back on the gold standard

steps off soap box and takes a bow
( then is immediately arrested as a terrorist )

Because it is. the definition of economy is Activities related to the production and distribution of goods and services in a particular geographic region. Not "how well a government's budget happens to be balance during a particular year."

You think California is the only state in the country facing a deficit? Better check out how the other 49 states are doing, before you get all smug and shell out for a membership in the"Never Mind Global Warming; Let's Just Bash California" club.

Let's see, who could that be? Oh yes, that would be Ronald Reagan, the guy who made a secret deal and sold arms to Iran, our sworn enemy.
