Report today says vitamin supplements shorten life, except for calcium. Calcium supplements are good.

Many danergers in life ...vitamins, global warming , whatever. The medias reporting of these dangers may be valid . Who knows. The important thing is to take note of reporting in the media and be aware.

"When 99% of climatologists agree that anthropomorphic warming is occurring, and will lead to massive population upheavals, rising sea levels, ect... Your basis for not accepting that is what exactly?"

"The 99% was just a point. Probably not accurate but who cares?"

Exactally, , why bring reality into a good HOAX that expenda the dead hand of government?

    Ever met a Green that wasn't a re-tread RED?

97% of people who argue with statistics are lying.

About 97% of American scientists believe that climate change is occurring, and is human-driven. And they're becoming steadily more certain, even as the general public is becoming more skeptical. So are scientists the most gullible and ignorant people in the country, or are they all part of the commie conspiracy?:)

    http://www.pnas.org/content/early/2010/06/04/1003187107.abstract

Ralph Cicerone, president of the National Academy of Science, paraphrased its most recent report on the subject.

"The consensus statement is that climate changes are being observed, are certainly real, they seem to be increasing, and that humans are mostly likely the cause of all or most of these changes..."

You are correct that when I used 99% I was exaggerating. In this case because I had read the actual studies incorrectly. The actual number is 97% of climate scientists agree that global warming is occurring, and that humans are causing it. Though the number is a tad misleading, since only something like 45% of climate scientists who work for oil and coal companies believe it.

Science is about repeatable facts , not theories, or Opinions. The "humans are responsible" is the opinion.

Opinions , with out facts , are great , like butts , everyone has one.

The problem is when almost 500,000 years of ice cores from the southern continent are studied , global temperature increases precede any rise in CO2 by 400-500 years.

A rather hard FACT , since no Volvos were around 500,000 years ago.

We are in a GLACIATION ERA , between ice ages, thanks GOD its still warming.

The concept of a mile of ice over most of the northern globe , on most cities and the farm belt is far more a worry than weather the sea level will rise .035 of an inch in 100-150 years in Miami.

And I own a piece of FL!

You have completely dodged my question. I'll rephrase it: why do 97% of scientists in this country say they believe climate change is real, and largely caused by humans? Are they all part of a conspiracy, or are they all gullible fools who know less about science than you do?

All opinions are not created equal, and I don't give yours much weight compared to theirs.

You're like the OJ juror who was completely unimpressed by blood evidence during the trial: "so what? We all gots blood..." By that I mean you refuse to step back and look at the overall picture. Instead you pick and choose, fastening onto little bits and pieces of evidence that supposedly support your preconceived notions. Bits and pieces that I have no doubt you're misunderstanding, misquoting, or otherwise mishandling.

They say it because they are either paid to say it, or intimidated.

97% of American scientists are getting paid to lie and say they believe in global warming, or are being intimidated into lying and saying they believe in global warming?

    Somehow I doubt that. Really I do....

    I'm not green, I'm cheap.
Just to play devil's advocate, I posit that whether climate change is a hoax or not, it's hard to argue with the economic and lifestyle benefits of greener living.
CFL lightbulbs- I haven't changed a bulb in two years in my house and my electric consumption has dropped, so my monthly cost has dropped. I save money and don't have to climb ladders as often.
Drive a vehicle that gets 30 Mpg vs 20 mpg and you have cut your annual fuel costs by 50%.
Compost and recycle- you put out less trash, which means fewer bags to haul to the curb, and you get rich soil for the garden, which beats buying fresh triple mix every spring.

Or drive whatever you want, live as wastefully as you want and then ***** about how much everything costs and whose fault it is.

The less money I spend on expendables like electricity and gas, the more I can spend on, epoxy, wood, boats and beer, without having to work any harder.

"why do 97% of scientists in this country say they believe climate change is real,"

IT is real ,and has been for 4.3 Billion years or so, its the "Man Made" that is the opinion with zero substance.

Unless you only read the religious LEFT sites, with GIGO computer models.

Try NASA , instead of ALGORE.
