    Or

Ever consider a new, bigger o-ring inside the cap? I had a similar issue and just bought a different o-ring and problem solved.

Don't you love the quality of the chinese scooter motors?

    White Gas

I have a friend of mine that runs a 31CC Ryobi in his RC plane, and he was talking about switching to white gas. According to him, there's no alchohol in it, and it starts and runs better, with alot less fouling on the plug. I tried it in my weed wacker at home, and there is a difference, it definitely runs better.

Just thought it might help some of you!

White gas is pure gasoline with no additions. You are from Kansas, home of Coleman. White gas is what Coleman fuel is.

    Ah....

Yep, never heard of it put that way.

So your saying just white gas, and no oil? Or use white gas and mix with oil, to get the mixture? Wouldn't the lack of oil cause the motor to burn up? Or am I missing something?
    Thanks for the info

I'm sure that they mean white gas with the normal oil mix.

    Honda clone 6.5Hp

    Question for Pistnbroke:

I have a honda clone 6.5Hp 200cc 4-stroke (~US$90 brand-new) and I am planning to mount it on a home-made "surfboard" about 12ft long x 3ft wide; approximately 80lbs just for the board. How fast can you go on your boat with the 6.5Hp? Did I read correctly 20knots?

    Thai Longtail in USA

Here are a few pics of of a 2.8 & and a 6.5 Lifan on American duck-boats. The bottom boat is a 13'6" 4 Rivers layout . The top boat is my buddies homebuilt foam-boat.

    Hey John,

Those look good on your boats ! also the combination with the smaller engine came out nicely.
Did you get the 2 smaller props in the meantime ?

    Thanks

    Beautiful Conversions

John: Those are very nice conversions. Did you use Paraprops parts? If so, do you have an estimate of the cost of the parts for those of us here in the States? Thanks.

My question is where does one get parts if needed? Are they available in the states?
Same goes for the 51cc brush cutter motors. Does SRE have any parts for the brush cutters john?
Parts avalability is my major concern for these projects.

    Thai /Longtails

The cost of shipping individual units air freight runs approx. $275 per unit . It is almost prohibitively expensive. I have used my 6.5 hp unit several times now and it is everything I had hoped for . It has more than enough power for a layout boat, but I really enjoyed the ease at which it powers through heavy weeds. As you can see from the pics I posted, it swivels around 180 degrees and secures easily for transportation. The Thai style eliminates some of the elements incorporated into most American designed long tails (ie) the u-joint and the corresponding support structure for the drive tube. Both designs obviously work well and will get the job done . It becomes a matter of personal preference. I hope to have a unit finished soon that utilizes the 3 hp Honda GX 100 and a slightly shorter boom. A lightweight combination that I hope will fit nicely with layout style boats.
