Waterline length on sternwheeler

    For purposes of calculating hull speed.. I'm wondering if the waterline length of a sternwheeler would be measured to include some portion of the wheel.. say the wetted area of the aft most bucked?
    Seems to me that it may effect the location of the stern wave.. scratching my head!!
