I have a piece of 316 SS that warped :( after I welded it.

How do I get it back to flat or do I throw it away and start again :(

    Thanks...

    Hi Wynand,

It is two 2mm SS disks for the cat's furling roller I welded onto a pipe.

I know you're going to say too much heat, but how the hell does the SS melt otherwise :( It's welded with the tig welder. Manie's disks are smaller, they came out ok.

I'm ready to go 10mm on these so nothing can warp them :D

Fanie, next time heat the discs with a torch before welding. There will still be some deformation, but much less. You can also use the torch to correct the warped discs by applying heat to the hollow sides, then use a vise or bolts and nuts to keep the material in position while it cools.
