This could be an interesting thread. I was once thinking of using discarded helecopter rotors apparantly they are about the right NACA in alluminium.

How big and what kind of boat do you want to lift.

What a Great idea ! a launch (composite/glass)for day trips , to Islands and coastal runs . a beam on 2m max swell

Well don't just run off and do it, we want to know what happens, how you did it and some pics too.

Apparantly the firm that manufactures them wants the old ones back to destroy, but I got a deal that the operating lugs would be cut off and I could take the rotor blade only (fine with me). The guy died before I got one.

The chord is about 1 foot which I think would be perfect.

A cordless reciprocating saw on a moonless night could yield you a life time supply of foil shapes.

Depends on what chopper you have as a donar.

I did all this some time ago and now forgotten but the rotor I was getting was surprisingly the NACA I wanted.

Which rotor was that ? I regularly travel by chopper. Where could I find a cross section Plan?

Find out what chopper it is then google it

I was "going" to get a blade of a Sikorsky. Sorry about spelling

Then google NACA design. You quite a bit to go have'nt you?

here is an example of the differences it is by all means not all of them --there is thousands.
